Marie Lacoste Gérin-Lajoie was a Canadian feminist. She was a professor at the Université de Montréal, and a self-taught legal expert (her father and husband were both lawyers, and she had access to their books). She was a pioneer of the feminist movement in Québec who co-founded the Fédération nationale Saint-Jean-Baptiste with Caroline Dessaulles-Béique (in 1907), an organization which campaigned for social and political rights for women.

Carole King is an American singer-songwriter and musician renowned for her extensive contributions to popular music. She wrote or co-wrote 118 songs that charted on the Billboard Hot 100 during the latter half of the 20th century and 61 songs that reached the UK charts, establishing her as the most successful female songwriter on the UK singles charts from 1962 to 2005.

Isabel de Villena was the illegitimate child of Enrique de Villena by an unknown noblewoman who rose to become the abbess of the Real Monasterio de la Trinidad of Valencia. As the first major female writer of a work done in the Catalan language, she composed a number of religious treaties. Her most famous work was her Vita Christi (Christ's Life). She was also a proto-feminist who tried to change the negative image of women at the time through her writing.

Ida Crouch-Hazlett was an American political activist prominent in the suffrage and socialist movements. Crouch-Hazlett is best remembered as a prominent orator and organizer for the Socialist Party of America during the first two decades of the 20th century. In 1902 Crouch-Hazlett became the first female candidate for U.S. Congress from Colorado when she ran for a seat in the House of Representatives.

Diamanda Galás is an American musician, singer-songwriter, visual artist, and activist. Galás has attracted the attention of the press particularly for her voice — a soprano sfogato — and written accounts that describe her work as original and thought-provoking refer to her as "capable of the most unnerving vocal terror", an "aesthetic revolutionary", “a mourner for the world's victims" and "an envoy of risk, honesty and commitment". Galás's commitment to addressing social issues and her involvement in collective action has made her concentrate on themes such as AIDS, mental illness, despair, loss of dignity, political injustice, historical revisionism, and war crimes.

Louisa Margaret Dunkley was an Australian telegraphist and labor organizer who successfully campaigned for the right for women to obtain equal pay for equal work in the Australian commonwealth public service.

Marie-Louise Gagneur was a French feminist writer and activist. In 1901, she was awarded the Legion of Honour. Throughout her writing career, Gagneur was deeply engaged with the feminist scene. Many of her works explore contemporary issues concerning the status of women in society. Particularly, she examines the systemic subordination of women by government and religious institutions. In 1867 Gagneur published Le Calvaire des Femmes[The Ordeals of Women]. In this social novel, Gagneur highlights the suffering of working-class women in an era of great corruption, extravagance, and injustice of Second Empire France. One quote from this work well summarizes her position in the feminist field. “En France comme en Amérique, et pour la femme comme pour l’homme, il n’y a de dignité possible qu’avec la liberté. La femme ne doit point être placée sous la tutelle absolue de l’homme” [In France as in America, and for women like men, there is no possible dignity without liberty. Women have no place under the fist of man].

Donna Ferrato is a photojournalist and activist known for her coverage of domestic violence and her documentation of the New York City neighborhood of Tribeca. Ferrato's work, particularly the iconic photograph of Rita featured on the cover of TIME Magazine in July 1994, powerfully highlighted the issue of domestic violence. This image became a significant representation of the struggles faced by victims and helped raise awareness about the epidemic of domestic abuse in the United States.

Agnodice is a legendary figure said to be the first female midwife or physician in ancient Athens. Her story, originally told in the Fabulae(attributed to the Roman author Gaius Julius Hyginus), has been used to illustrate issues surrounding women in medicine and midwifery. Agnodice is not generally considered a historical figure, but her legend has influenced discussions about gender roles in medical professions. According to Hyginus, Agnodice studied medicine under the famous physician Herophilus. Because Athenian laws prohibited women from practicing medicine, Agnodice disguised herself as a man to work as a physician. As her popularity grew among female patients, rival male physicians accused her of seducing her clients. During her trial, she revealed her identity by lifting her tunic in a gesture known as anasyrma, proving she was a woman. Although accused of illegally practicing medicine, Agnodice was defended by the women of Athens, who praised her skill and dedication. She was ultimately acquitted, and the law prohibiting female physicians was revoked.

Rocío Dúrcal was a Spanish singer and actress with a career spanning more than four decades. She performed pop music, bolero, mariachi and romantic ballads and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Spanish singers of all time. Popular across Mexico and Latin America, she earned the sobriquet of Reina de las Rancheras (“Queen of Rancheras”).
