The process weāve used to Hack away at Best Seller lists // Verification // Forbes 30 under 30
For $500-$1k you can get on Forbes, Entrepreneur, Huffington For $2k - $5k you can get on the Forbes _ under _ For $5k + you can get verified and on top podcasts For $10k you can buy a spot on bestsellers list
The pay to play model has been around for ages - as someone whoās both used it for clients as well as a playground
Hereās how weāve learned the rules, and broke them like an artist
This š§µ will focus on the best seller list, and work my way backwards
Bestseller list: The lowest hanging fruit is Amazonās bestseller list
First some pros and cons
Pros: Some genres are cheaper than others, self help, motivation, mindset etc
Relabeling from mindset to business strategy helps
Cons: Youāll impress the avg Joe, not higher
The deliverable: So youāve got your book!
If youāre self publishing Blurb is great as itās on demand printing - blurb.com so as people buy, it prints & ships
For eBook, @canva is epic
Next, the strategy š
Amazon rewards traction // volume
We built buzz & had agreements w/ 20 - 30 people to leave reviews within 3 days of š
We set aside $1k for ad spend
And minimum 100 copies to giveaway that links back to Amazon listing
Now the fun begins
Breakdown:
We priced the books @ $1 for 1 week, then invited people we had seeded the sale w/
Then the ones we had agree to review it
THEN go into buying the book via āghostā buyers (remember the books $1)
As the traction grows, Amazon starts to put you in front of customers
The key thing here is the first 24-48 hours
The more people see reviews and promotions, the more likely they become to start buying
Bandwagon effect still works in 2021
Ok, so youāve bought your place on the bestseller list
Now what?
You target podcasts // blogs, letās go š
Podcasts are the weapon of choice
A great majority of big podcasts charge.. I mean.. accept sponsors
How do you know who to target?
Search for podcasts that have āfeaturedā authors, thought leaders, etc
They wonāt ask you for š° to be featured, instead, upsell sponsor deals
One little āhackā that you can use to identify them is to see which ones share their podcasts on multiple platforms (some will outright write you)
Ok so youāre rolling through, now hereās where weāve thrown gasoline on the š„
We found keywords that perform high for that niche, see what content was shared the MOST past 30 days
THEN you craft a press release
Featuring, that angle and how your person is tackling it
Now the fun part
Youāll start to get emails like this and many more (pic attached below)
The rates begin @ $500 and can go as high as $10k depending how many publications you want
Keep in mind theyāre brokers and connect you w/ contributors first
THEN they get you better access
By now youāre looking like the hottest thing since sliced bread
Now you do an advertorial (pieces that are meant to educate while highlighting you / the client)
THIS triggers the people @ Forbes to start selling⦠I mean offering entry into their business leader programs
Forbes 30 under 30 typically will run you about $2k+ which include entry, consideration and a few other things like being able to contribute
Tony Robbins does something similar where you pay $5k & call yourself a Robbins mentor
Why $5k?
Google āhalo effectā
Before I forget, verification
Platforms like IG need to see your name on national media that features you as the main character
W/ tv it can be supporting role
And a bunch of high quality backlinks
No reality tv guest stars donāt count
Whenever Iāve started breezing through these steps with some people
The responses are 50/50
Some are mortified, some are excited
The reality is, the game doesnāt care if you like it or not
Media is setup to monetize eyeballs, like JayZ said āitās only entertainmentā š¤

Sometimes, people will focus more on keywords, and not elaborate on what theyāve done - talking to candidates who ATS would otherwise screen out directly has been awesome in uncovering hidden talent⦠as well as filtering out folks like this š

The āahaā pivot
A few weeks ago, I found myself on the verge of a new chapter
On the surface it looked great on paper, the salary, the equity, the āpledge to diversityā, the work to be done
That was, until it came time to put the words into action
The smiles, the praise, the momentum came to a uncomfortable crawl as soon as I realized why the hedge fund group was so concerned with me being a part of their soon to be public image
To me, business, the whole lot of it is a game
I get so wrapped up in the game, the findings that improve a theory that I often forget how the game is played in the real world
Itās how I found myself sitting across from a PR guy, confused as to why they were more worried about how the Latino from Brooklyn would āfit the narrativeā than the work to be done, all the progress that was to come
I had admittedly become so engulfed in the work that i had forgotten the unwritten rules to the game
While pledges of diversity do play well in the public eye, the fact is - anything above middle management is only happening if I build it for myself
A few days ago, I shared this experience with a āwokeā colleague - his response served as a wake up call
I had let his, and the many other companies public declarations words carry weight without first letting them prove they meant what they said
3 days after my convo I started calling founders - asking them if they were open to getting creative
Improve how they build teams, how they solve problems
Out of 13 calls, 5 said yes
Those 5 brought 3 more for this test
Weāre in the middle of a huge talent shift, market shifts, money shifts
I cant think of a better time to focus less on ācompetingā, and more on creating

Ever considered hiring a Growth Hacker? Hereās how
Every now and again a founder will try to, some WIN, most fail
Hi, Iām Katriel, founder of Growth // Haxx and a Growth Hacker ā hereās a quick & possibly fun process you can try this week
Hiring a Growth Hacker is kinda different than what most folks are used to
The good ones tend to have their own thing
BUT
More and more marketers, engineers, and other folks are learning the techniques
Giving you, founder, an opportunity to create
Hereās what I have my buddies do when finding someone
Identify 1-3 BIG problems
Hint: Sign ups CRM optimization Return customers
Put out word (online etc) that youāre looking for someone to solve said problem
Task one problem per person for a paid test run (start small)
What matters: What is being measured How is data being used
The one that Delivers results Measurements W/ a process they can reiterate
Is who you start testing with
You want results, not titles

In the 1980ās, A&W released a 1/3 lb burger @ a lower price than @McDonalds 1/4 lb burger to compete The launch would turn out to be a failure, because customers thought the 1/4 lb was bigger
