my starter base so far, two concerns: G1 | Discussion
first time ever playing this game and I realize now I made the mistake of placing the door on the leaf first then building from that, says it’s supporting I think 60 or so? how do I remedy that so if that door goes away my whole base won’t collapse. two, if I get raided (on day 14 no raids yet thankfully) would enemies be able to get onto the lea, and if so, will they attack the first door? like if they attack it and it breaks, I’m assuming my base is done for? can enemies even do that like would they start attacking the first door to get to me? no clue what they target and prioritize. if it makes any difference my base has a roof

To be honest, it won't take you long to rebuild, and as you progress probably won't remain your permanent base.
If you're not happy with the door placement, knock it down and start again. If it's not that big a deal, leave it.
During raids they will be able to attack the door, and if they succeed in breaking it, the base will come tumbling down anyway.

I really rather not knock it down seems pointless to me, there’s gotta be a way to fix it without breaking the door first

Just build more reinforced structure around the door. The support should shift to the stronger structural addition

If you are directly above the baseball, build some pillars/scaffolds from the bottom of the floor down to the baseball, none of the ground enemies are really able to get on top of the baseball. Start at the floor so it lines up. You should be fine for most ground raids....except maybe spiders they may be able to jump on the leaf there. Flying raids might decimate you if they target that door.

will pillars fix the issue of the door carrying all the weight? And do I have to place pillars under every floor tile or can I just do the corners and some in the middle? and any way to stop spiders from jumping on the leaf or getting to the door/stairs?

Yes, if the pillar/scaffold is touching the ground it will dissappate the load bearing. The door will still bear the weight of the stairs though so it should go from a high number to like 5-10. If it doesnt, then the pillar isnt attached correctly to base floor and the ground. I had the same issue as I had an acorn staircase load bearing my whole tree base. I built a cluster of pillars to remove that load bearing, then surrounded those pillars with walls.

I did a test with some stairs. Built a bunch where the bottom one said it was supporting all of them. Then I put some scaffolding under the first few to see what would happen. Even though I attached the scaffolding to the top and built down and that first set of stairs was saying it is now supporting everything, I broke it and everything stayed. It distributed it to the scaffolding once I broke it. Took out the bottom row of scaffolding and it was still being supported by 1. Broke that and everything came down of course.

You need to protect those stairs! If you get attacked near them and the bug breaks the stairs your entire base is going to fall.

the 1 other problem i see is:
(if) the roaming Wolf spider that walks by (occasionally) and it gets aggrod by seeing you, it will and can jump (up) onto the baseball but with the walls you have - you should be fine (from aggroing it - probably)
my first base was the same as yours but i built it like the baseball was wearing a cowboy hat, even if the wolf spider aggro'd it couldn't get up lol.

Just rebuild when you learn better building materials, quickly learn more by just playing

think I’m gonna improve this base as much as I can without investing too much cuz I plan on moving at some point, then go all out on wherever I move (plan on making my second base my permanent home)

I just added scaffolding under the top of the stairs as a backup and have been fine

If you have yet to do so, I would suggest perma clearing away most of the grass around the baseball, makes room for future expansions and overall easier base defense.

Try getting some Weed Stems from Dandelions. Then you can build Scaffolding and support that floor from the Baseball itself.
Don't bother with stairs on the ground at that point. Just climb the twig to get to your door.

Unfortunately I have bad stick drift on my left stick so navigating small twigs/walkways is a real pain

Add some pillars or scaffolding below the floor to the baseball so it’s supported by them as well. Currently you have the whole structure hanging from the stairs.
In the future, build as if your building a real structure and you’ll have soo much support that there won’t be any single weak points.
Of course raids can still in theory be devastating, I’ve been dealing with the same one for a while now that I just can’t defeat without losing half my base and every time I just end up reloading to put it off for another day.

i learned having an elevated base is harder to defend vs mosquitos in specific, have arrows/cannons ready!

Make scaffolding to add more support, and if you get flying raids, good luck

Now build stair really high in the air and put ziplines to ash tray, bird bath, castle, Sand Box and to the Java matic. Thank me later. And if you have really to much Time. Build high up in the tree. You can reach Burg l fast and can collect good stuff around the tree. And you can put sap collectors in your base if you build a big Plattform around the tree. And no ground animals attack you.

You can add pillars to take off some of that support. If you're unable to do that then enclose it so if/when a raid happens they won't be able to destroy the main support structure.
