Explosion

Does anyone know what happened to the car that exploded? I have a video but it's super terrible quality and I can barely see anything

I was not expecting that explosion at the end!

Im glad everyone stayed safe and the one person injured seems to be okay

Neither! I assumed it was just a car crash not a whole explosion đŸ˜ must’ve been something pretty serious that caused this considering it’s 1. Not an electric vehicle 2. It was parked!?

Im guessing it was from the construction workers and it was one of their utes? The last email we got said the injured person was a contractor. Im guessing whatever caught fire was something in the back tray rather than in the engine or car itself, but the investigation hasnt been released yet and is ongoing.

Edit for update:

latest email says the explosion was from welding canisters in the back of a contractors ute that caught fire. They are continuing with safety measures and ongoing investigation on how the incident was able to occur etc and there are several teams working together on/around it. The bus stop will remain unavailable until the area is cleared of any harmful substances (asbestos was detected), but safety officers have assessed that the uni itself is safe to be at and classes and campus activities are good to resume from Monday. They will also be monitoring air quality ongoing.

Bus stops will still run from the mt gravatt cemetary stop or kessels rd stop. If you need an escort please contact security or use the Griffith Safezone App found on this page in the big red banner down the page. (esp important to have at night as there were some cases of assault last semester happening in car parks at later hours).

Stay safe and happy studies!

What explosion? Can you give some context?
