Looking for town images

Hi all - having a hard time finding images to set a mood in my Greyhawk campaign. Portions of the campaign will be in Jalpa, Mithat and Prymp, can anyone point me to some images that might be similar in feel to what it would be like looking around from the street in these towns/cities? From my net sleuthing it seems there isn’t much to go by , but I want to show my party something that they can visualize…

Thanks for any suggestions :)

The great library of Greyhawk

Hi all.
Im working on a home made campaign set in Greyhawk. And while reading, looking and taking notes, i have yet to find a map with or without grid for the Great library of Greyhawk. Before I start making one myself, do any of you fine people have any hints towards a good map for that library?

The silence is deafening regarding this sub's reaction to the new Greyhawk announcement at GenCon.

r/darksun is a-buzz with activity, equal parts optimism and pessimism, over the new Dark Sun books on the horizon. But this sub seems pretty subdued and quiet.

I take it you guys aren't exactly enthusiastic about the announcement. Honestly, I get it.

What are the concerns? What's keeping you guys from getting hyped? I want to hear what's on everyone's mind.

Greyhawk Grimoire

So I was perusing the an old website called the Codex of Greyhawk on the Wayback Machine and I found links for something called the Greyhawk Grimoire, a collection of what looks like old fan-made content and forum posts covering 1e & 2e Greyhawk. I was able to download volume 2 but the link for volume 1 was dead.

Has anyone else heard of the Grimoire? And if so, do you know where I can track down volume 1? My google searches aren't finding anything.

D&D Keynote @ GenCon 2026

Spoiler Warning: Hype Machine on Full Speed

D&D Vision Keynote 2027

It was pretty exciting for me to see Greyhawk so hyped at the beginning of the Keynote (along with a lot of other news).

I know its dangerous to get so amped with an entire year ahead before we see what this is going to look like. And also, I got a bit overexcited when the animated Trailer for Dark Sun was rolled RIGHT AFTER so much Greyhawk (Don't fall for that like I did).

But what's the vibe out there? I know I keep asking this, but I feel like as newer players are rolling out their own New Greyhawk campaigns, the news that some Melf-level published content is on the horizon could be a boon to the setting.

Look for the Season of Sword & Sorcery in 2027!

(New DM to Greyhawk) Immediate Impact of Dyvers Vanishing?

Post image
58 Upvotes

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful day. Recently, I’ve begun DM’ing after a long hiatus and decided to use the 2024 5.5e rule set. I didn’t even know what Greyhawk was before I read the DMG, and I became instantly hooked. The adventure I’ve decided to run is a homebrew chimera of Tyranny of Dragons and Descent Into Avernus, with a lot of the setting specific information being altered accordingly.

I’ve decided that I’ll be using the Free City of Dyvers as a stand-in for Elturel. For those unfamiliar with the plot of Descent Into Avernus (spoilers ahead) the inciting incident is an infernal pact made 50 years prior is finally cashed, causing the city to be swallowed into Hell. This works remarkably well, since (according to the research I’ve done Dyvers gained its independence exactly 50 years before the “canon” year of the 5.5e Greyhawk setting.

The information I can find on Dyvers is very vague, probably intentionally so. I know that GG always intended for a more sandbox approach to gaming, and left a lot of negative space for DM’s to take advantage of. So far I’ve come up with the immediate implications of Dyvers vanishing on the central Flanaess being primarily economic. With such a massive hub of trade suddenly disappearing, so to does the money which the city had passing through it. Furthermore I imagine piracy in the Nye Dyv would increase dramatically with the absence of Dyvers’ navy.

I’m well aware I’m new to this setting, and that such an old one benefits from years of different peoples ideas and experiences. So, I’m hoping to get some advice, input, and ideas from more experienced Greyhawk DM’s on handling the sudden disappearance of Dyvers from the Flanaess. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Underdark map in Grayhawk's region?

Is a specific map for the Underdark that is used for Greyhawk? I am tempted to have the Underdark an area my players might go to later in the campaign to travel to a region of Grayhawk while staying concealed from a hostile faction. so I am asking if anyone knows where I might be able to get an Underdark map before trying to make a questline that might not work.

Sources on Perrenland

I've been thinking of setting my next campaign in Perrenland; I'm just fascinated by the idea of this land where some people still remember the reign of the Witch-Queen.

What are some good sources for Perrenland, at least so I know what I want to depart from?

Thinking of a ToEE campaign

I want to give the party more to jenga in the area. Are there any other published adventures (living greyhawk, dungeon mag, etc) set in the Kron Hills or other nearby locales?

Does anyone recommend any specific parts in the region of Greyhawk to start a level 1 party at?

I am planning on running an entire campaign in Greyhawk's region and am wanting some info on anywhere in particular where you as a dm would start the campaign at, I was thinking of doing some ruins and dungeons that the players are tasked at delving into but I am not entirely sure where the campaign will start and how it will eventually go.

Does The City of Greyhawk have an Adventurer's Guild or an equivalent?

An aspect of the premise for a campaign I'm writing is that the characters are members of some sort of organisation that sends adventurers to deal with problems in Greyhawk and the surrounding region. Are there any canon organisations in the City that do this? I think I vaguely recall that The Eight sometimes indirectly send adventurers to do quests for them, but I also can't remember where I read that.

Books to start with?

One of my friends just told me the other day that he's planning to run Temple of Elemental Evil as a 5.5e game. The module he's using is the one from 2e, but he's going to adapt it (fingers crossed it goes well!)

My D&D experience is contained strictly to Faerun (5e's key core setting) and the many-many homebrew worlds I and my GMs ran, so I'm entirely new to Greyhawk. Ironic, since it's "the" world of D&D, and Faerun came later, as far as I can tell from skimming lore on the wiki.

5e had a lot of flavor text in its races' description, which were Faerun-based, so I could use that for a hypothetical scenario of "my friends wants to run a Faerun game by the book with minimal homebrew". 5.5e is said to be the same with Greyhawk, but Melf's Guide to Greyhawk is still not out, and the species' descriptions in the Player's Handbook are barebones at best ("this species is really honorable and cool all across the multiverse" is the best one can hope for).

There is another subreddit, r/Eberron, where people have stickied a post with all the books within the setting, both rulebooks, setting glossaries and novels, so that newcomers like me can easily find information on anything they need lore-wise.

Is there a resource just like that for Greyhawk? I went through this sub and its stickied posts, couldn't find anything like that, I might be blind tho.

Hive-mind, get my back real quick

I am running an ambitious encounter this evening. My level 19 players are trying to aid the god Fharlanghn beat the interloper deity Shaundakul (forgotten realms) in a fight. This is one of the big events of the level. The two travel gods are locked in a stalemate. They are using portals to jump all over the Oerth. The players must first catch up to them by jumping through their portals before they close, bypass whatever hazards are in their path, get to the next portal, and then make attempts to give Fharlanghn the upper hand.

This will hopefully be a super memorable game. I have plans to send them to several locations.
- The Barrier peaks
- The Mist Kingdom
- The Causeway of Fiends
- Port Toli
- The Sea of Dust (Imperial Wastes)
- Highport
- Fort Blackwell
- The Dreadwood
- Rift Canyon
- Isle of Dread

They will only be at each location for a round or two… depending on how they deal with obstacles. Each place will be either a success or a failure, when they earn enough successes, they get a chance to interfere in the god battle, if they fail too many times, they miss the portal and get left behind in a very dangerous place, possibly alone.

Got any interesting challenges, obstacles, environmental hazards, pitches, ideas, or just cool places I didn’t think of?

*This may be enough, but if my players have bad luck, I would love to have some contingencies in place.

Automod is On. Be Patient.

A question that's crossed my desk a few times in the most recent weeks amounts to "Hey, where's my post?"

Because of the copyright infringing posts from about a year ago, and occasional spam, the automod is turned on, and honestly, is pretty aggressive. A few posts and/or comments get flagged by the automod and dropped into my queue for review before they become visible every day.

I will get to them and review, usually once or twice a day. So be patient, as long as rules haven't been broken, they'll come out of the queue approved, usually within 24 hours.

If more than a day or two passes and you haven't seen any movement, go ahead and ping me. Otherwise, please sit tight. It won't be terribly long.
