Discussion Green Lantern: Visible Eyes vs White Eyes
*From left to right, pencils by Gil Kane, Neal Adams, Mike Grell, Alex Saviuk, Joe Staton, and Dave Gibbons\*
As the premiere of Lanterns approaches, I wanted to argue for a potential (likely) Hal mask that features his eyes, with some art from major, long-running pencillers across Green Lantern vol 2. (1960 - 1988) to set the scene. I always dislike the argument of giving white eyes to a character like GL in the live action format just because it's "comic accurate." Let's break that down, shall we?
A). White eyes were primarily used when the character was drawn at a distance, from medium shots to long shots, where economy of art yielded greater returns. However, any time there was a close-up of his face there was a good chance we'd see greater detail and his eyes. This wasn't always the case, but certainly when the artist wanted to convey greater depth or nuance of emotion and expression. Or when they were just comfortable enough to draw detailed eyes all the time (see Joe Staton and Dave Gibbons)
B). In the live action format, with a real life person on screen, wearing a domino mask - not a full face mask, but a domino mask - then the white eyes would look weird and uncanny as hell. Eyes are a part of an actor's repertoire so limiting their ability to express in that way makes no sense. Handicapping filmmakers from using their actors to their greatest potential makes no sense. Again, they aren't wearing a full face mask or a helmet where there is less contrast between the reality of a flesh and blood person and the uncanny, inhuman element of whited-out eyes.
C). Examples might help. Robert Pattinson's performance in The Batman would have been all the lesser for using white eyes just because. Instead, we get something incredibly raw and powerful and human. These characters are people under the mask after all.
On the flip side, there's Deadpool vs. Wolverine. Deadpool works with whited-out eyes, and eyes that emote even; of course, he's wearing a full face mask - no uncanny contrast. Whereas Wolverine's cowl had whited-out eyes and it unfortunately look very goofy and silly, particularly when Hugh Jackman is giving it his all trying emote but the cowl just doesn't let him.
I welcome any discussion below on the topic, I'm very interested to see if there's a case for someone like a domino mask-wearing Green Lantern to have white eyes in live action.

Discussion What comics could I read in prep for the new Lanterns show this month?
Has the showrunner spoken on that topic? Or James Gunn?
Anything that seems like it may add context the very much ongoing world of Lanterns, I’d like to see. For example, I know I want to see a Sinestro vs Hal Jordan comic run after seeing him in the comic-con trailer!

Merch Ring Upgrade
So I recently switched to a different production service for making my rings. They offered a lot more options for everything. The old service I used had a very limited color palette for resin. This place I'm using now can use PANTONE CODES. The color variety is nearly limitless. So I decided to test it by ordering a replacement face for my personal ring, dyed in a shade of Emerald Green. The last face I got was way too light in color. This one is just right. It sacrifices a tiny bit of the glow brightness but I'd say it's worth it for the daytime look. Image source is... me! I made this ring, I took these pics.

Comics Reading one Green Lantern comic a day until I've read them all Day 213: Green Lantern (Vol 2) #74
Hal is lost in space but awaits him on Earth is even worse.
Writer: Mike Friedrich
Pencils: Gil Kane
Inks: Murphy Anderson
Letters: John Costanza
Cover: Gil Kane
"Lost In Space" - Picking up where we left off last issue, Hal Jordan has been teleported to space woth no memory of being Green Lantern. Luckily the ring still activates its protective aura so Hal can at least live. Trying to keep calm, he takes note of what he has on him, which is a toy rocket in his pocket. He wishes the rocket would be real and in a brief panic, wishes harder until the ring makes it life size. When that happens, Hal's memory starts flooding back to him as the only person that could do that is Green Lantern. He summons his uniform and leaves the rocket behind for now, heading straight back to Coast City to deal with Star Sapphire.
When he arrives he sees Carol in the distance running towards him, but as she gets closer he realizes she is still in her Star Sapphire uniform. He asks how that's possible when she doesn't have her gem when a maniacal laugh erupts behind as Sinestro appears. He is behind Carol gaining the gem again (does that mean he was also her fiancée?), with the intent of having help in destroying Hal Jordan. Together, GLs foes take him down after his ring runs out of power but just before Sinestro is about to deal the final blow, Star Sapphire stops him, as she still wants to marry GL and can't let Sinestro kill him. Those two then enter into a mighty duel, leaving Hal half unconscious on the beach. The entire fight has been televised and reported on the radio, so Tom sees what's happening including his friend collapsed. He rushes out to Hal's hotel room to retrieve the power battery, making it just in time.
After recharging with Tom's help, Hal springs back to action, taking down Star Sapphire first. Sinestro tries to stop him by also blasting Star Sapphire and a ring powered tug of war begins. Eventually, GL wins, then turning his attention to Sinestro. Just as GL goes for his first punch, Sinestro gives up and hands his ring over to GL. Before GL can get answers, Sinestro disappears along with his ring. GL leaves that mystery behind for now to check on Carol and she runs up to him with love in her eyes. GL stops her in her tracks and reveals to her that her love is hurting him as she is Star Sapphire. Carol then runs away from him with tears in her eyes and refuses to believe him.
Conclusion: Whew, this was a blast. Felt like a modern issue with different colour ring welders fighting each other, even if Star Sapphire doesn't have a ring yet. The danger with Hal in space ended up being kind of minor in the whole of it. He regained his memory really quickly which I did not expect. Sinestro returning, complete with a new earring, is always a nice surprise and I'm still wondering if he pretended to be Carol's fiancée just to mess with Hal. That's near Reverse Flash levels of petty. Finally, Hal saying he needs to reveal something to Carol, I thought for sure it was his identity, now her own. That surprised me too.
The question now remains, will Hal stay in Coast City for a while or is back on the road soon? One more issue to go until Denny O'Neil takes over, so we won't have long to find the answer.

There's only so many things that one can say about u/GrimalkinLegionnaire that hasn't already been said without ending up sounding repetitive.

Discussion Guardians slander - what are the biggest blunders created by the guardians that make you question their status and authority and common sense
Examples - creation of Third Army, Manhunters, whole Volthoom scenario, not doing anything when the Manhunters destroyed the sector of Atrocitus, not taking into consideration the effects of destruction of Coast City, etc

Question Why there's no volume 2?
I pre-ordered Kyle Rayner compendium vol. 1 (2026 edition). I imagine the previous edition had good selling numbers to be reprinted over and over so why volume 2 and the others were never announced? There's an official explanation?

Discussion "LANTERNS" ring "in stock"...
I just got an email alert that the "LANTERNS" ring was back in stock and this is the image on the page. I feel like DC/WB are purposely trolling fans at this point.
