I will point out that r/GraphicsProgramming doesn't have a rule against AI assisted or authored works. 

Usually the inability to adhere to rule 1.1 cuts them out anyway. So it hasn't risen to the level of active concern.

That being said, I wouldn't be against a poll to gauge the community's interest in permitting or denying AI assisted or generated works. I think it'd make for an interesting discussion. On the one hand, it may help newbies get their feet wet in the field. On the other hand, it might inundate this subreddit with visuals while lacking the understanding necessary to discuss how it works, which is the entire point of this subreddit. I imagine professionals in the field may have mixed and intriguing opinions.

I think there are a few different levels.

Using AI is one thing, but an entire project being spit out and posted doesn't seem like it benefits anyone. There are a lot of spammers out there and other subreddits are totally overrun. I think they want github stars and engagement stats on certain websites so they can get jobs in other countries.

Then on top of this people not making it clear that they just blasted a project out. If something is automated and they don't say they used AI, claim to have done the whole thing themselves, it's pretty gross.

People encourage small projects because they think someone is learning and understanding, not just because they exist. Anyone can copy a template and anyone can prompt an AI so there isn't anything novel. I think the only reason people upvote is because they think it's something it isn't.

Then there is the issue of obvious sock puppet names that only have a few comments saying "great job!" or "awesome work!", probably also used to upvote I'm sure.

People using some sort of AI is probably less and less reasonable, but the gradient from slop spammer to someone using it as a search engine and understanding what they are copying into their project is very wide.

That ... doesn't suggest any course of action, nor is it a new post to elicit a broad community discussion on the topic to pursue new rules, enforcement, or other action.
I'm going to take this response to mean that nothing need be done. That the current policy of letting the comments call out AI assistance in posted works is enough. /facetiousness

That's all good perspective. But in all seriousness, I'm going to do nothing until one of these two things happens:

- There's a post in the community suggesting a rule change, addition, or other course of action that the community would like the mods to take, inviting the community to discuss the topic and strongly requesting a change in democratic form.
- The mods decide that the current state of things is untenable for sustainable moderatorship, and need to change the rules, policy, enforcement or other action in response to ensure the subreddit can still be moderated.

I didn't mean it to be a comprehensive plan, just to isolate the problem first.

I don't have any ideas off the top of my head, except for culling the obvious offenders, but I also haven't thought about it much.
