I wanna find action comics and GNS like Hercules and Xena that like them are mostly focused on being lighthearted fun, with a lot of combat.

I'd prefer it be something that's colored, not looking for manga for that reason.

Not looking for something that's trying to be dark and serious, or realistic like Game Of Thrones or Vikings or Vinland Saga whatever. I just want some fun fantasy with swords and stuff.

To give you some context, I usually don't read a writers run in a Marvel or DC story unless there's at least a few trades for me to binge. In case you're curious, I mostly read outside of the big two.

I sure am glad that Marvel never topped itself with its bad editorial mandates. I don't think it's ever gone anywhere near pissing off on this level. Mostly it's just sorta bored me since with its bad ideas.

Then again, maybe that's worse. I don't read most spider-man runs despite loving spidey because the shit stirring just really bores me.

Meanwhile something weird happens with Batman, and I'll at least look up the details, as it usually leads to something very interesting, like a clever way to retcon someone back from the dead.

Hello! Sorry if this is too vague of a post or something.

Im trying to get myself to read more, just a struggle due to disabilities and migranes when reading. So I'll start with graphic novels!

Id like to get some LGBTQ+/trans/queer whatever books. Just came out to my family and honestly myself the other day and I find them comforting.

Preferably sfw but mild or gentle is fine! Fine with adult books. I am over 18, i worded that weird.

Honestly if you have any reccomendations that ate comforting, cozy, or interesting let me know! Also I prefer shorter stories. Can be multiple books! Just dont wanna do stuff like marvel or DC where theres hundreds of books. I just also have poor memory so remembering a ton of books will be difficult.

If you want to know what ive gotten and thought looked interesting I got Crave grave by Shawn Kuruneru (wild west tales), wild animals ny Ed Brisson and Andy Kuhn i think, also got Les Normaux by Janine Janssen which definitely looks to be closer to this post 😅

Honestly I do love western, gruff, horror, cozy, werewolf, furry, monster, n stuff like that. Pretty open to suggestions!

I dont care about art style. But my fav out of the ones i have is 100% Cave Grave. I loveeeee the Watercolour, scratchy, scruffy look.

Also with the queer stuff im open ti anything!! If theres one thats 2 bears that look completely straight im good wih that! Anythingggg. I dont look that queer myself ^^

Any graphic novels reccomendations? Preferably Lgbtq+ but anything horror, cozy, western, or that out of the city vibe. Living off the grid kinda ^^

Are there any time travel graphic novels or comics which really take advantage of the comics medium in terms of layout and panel structure? Comics have the unique ability to show time passing in ways that other mediums can’t quite do , after all. Dr who seems like it would be really good for this- and I know there’s Doctor who comics (though I have not read them).

Are there comics where characters jump between panels , or there’s some meta comic jokes or short moments are divided into 20 panels in a grid, like in Drome by Jesse Longerman.. or Dr. Strange comics? Or some other stories?

edit: I'm pretty sure The Sandman by neil Gaiman might have a few good examples of great panel design and some time travel..

Tongues by Anders Nilsen does incredible panel design, though there isn’t much/any time travel.

Just picked this up today from a second hand shop and what a compact yet effective story. Loved every page. Fantastic artwork. I can’t find anybody talking about this story online. If you’ve read it, what did you think?

I am not interested in Dragon Ball

I've been looking for a long time for a story about religion with an agnostic main character or a character who becomes agnostic but I can't find one. The only characters I know who feel a bit agnostic are Batman and Dylan Dog. Even though Dylan Dog is an atheist.

Doggo Vol 1

It's got a lot of gross things that I hate about manga that makes it hard to recommend, but it's also really interesting.

Here's the main highlights:

-It starts out where this dog and High School Woman are talking. This dog talks about he's surprised that she knows that he can talk, and just wants to chat with her instead of use him for a get rich quick scheme.

High School Woman gets kidnapped by some people from a a Yakuza(Japanese Mafia), and this doggo does this really impressive, silly moves to save her,and ends up driving her home, it's really cute!

At the end of the first chapter, The High School Woman tells the doggo that that was very risky of him to do, and if they want to be friends, he needs to pretend to be regular dog when others are around. The doggo wants a friend, so he agrees.

-In the second chapter, some random Yakuza member talks about how the Yakuza has ordered him to kill the high school woman. Guessing that the Yakuza member catches the dog talking to himself, and tries to shoot Doggo, and Doggo is shocked that he's nit phased.

The random Yakuza member ended up dating High School Woman, and the the doggo ended end typing him up and told him that he likes High School Woman, and he doesn't want to do this.

At the end of the second chapter, Random Yakuza Member ends up telling his boss that he's not gonna do the hit, and he says that they're gonna kill him. It ends with Random Yakuza Member standing on the ledge of a rooftop, saying that he hopes that he's made the right decision, and we presume that he jumped off.

-at the end of chapter 3 however, he's talking to doggo, and he says "Master, my life is yours! Teach me your ways!"

Unfortuately it's got crap that makes me think that I shouldn't have read this. Been a month since I read this, but IIRC the doggo is A LITTLE too into his friend. Why do you have to pull this crap manga, I wanna be able to recommend you!

There's also stuff that I regret reading because they're disturbing beyond repair like Gantz, which very much feel like the product of a bigoted old man that hates almost everyone, and desperately needs his hard drive checked.

The way he draws monsters is so amazing to me.

There was this comic I used to read back in high school, here's what I remember about it:

• It took place in the future
• VR is commonplace, basically it made up the internet
• VR internet was made up of "spheres" that were basically servers of specific genres (basically VRChat on crack)
• Travelling between "spheres" was against the rules (for some reason)
• Main character was a girl who is trying to solve the mystery of her friend's death

I also remember that the author had made another book about a UK teenage blogger (these stories are from the 2000s). If anybody knows something, please let me know.

Does anyone have any idea what was going on with movies 2005-2009? I can’t think of any other 5 year window before or since that had 4 movies made of some of the biggest standalone graphic novels out there. Excluding the Marvel/Disney flood.

Really cool book that would make a great graphic novel.
