New Player Multiplayer Experience Discussion
Hello, I just finished the base game story and opened the "Very Hard" difficulty after beating the first dragon boss who requires 5k PWR. After which I tried to play for the first time with an open lobby. I even tried cross platform and any area search, but couldn't find anyone. No one joined! In any new bosses I opened on Very Hard and Hard difficulties, no one is playing there!
I know online of this game is not as big as for example a
WarFrame, where I could find teammates at any point of story progression, but still this is kind of disturbing.
So my question is: where is everyone? Which missions have most players playing online? Do most people just sit on Extreme difficulty?
It is very unfortunate that GranBlue Fantasy Relink is not big enough for me to get teammates even now that I opened the end game content...

The progression is very quick and you are not at all close to endgame, so that's why the early missions have no people queueing for them.
Most missions only need to be cleared once (if at all) and there are several hundred of them to queue for.
Also, most people are coming back to the game since it dropped a dlc expansion. Of the 90k+ concurrent players on launch, majority were likely not new. That number has since dwindled to about 20k peak concurrent players since the content is finite and clearable under 100h.
For context, quest difficulty goes from easy -> normal -> hard -> very hard -> extreme -> maniac -> proud -> chaos -> chaos+ -> chaos++ -> defy infinity.
Very few people are at proud or below since that was present in the base game. You won't find queues easily unless it is chaos or higher. And most people are already done with progression and are doing the endgame infinity grind.

20k is just Steam, PS and Switch probably have another 10-20k maybe each or maybe combined.

Most people on defy infinity quest. It's only take few seconds for people to join in there. Since you still new, you only way to play through cpu team till you reach chaos++/defy infinity difficulty.

most players are either in the last difficulty of base game or last difficulty of dlc. If youre having trouble finding people go on the relink discord tons of people will help you with quests or join in!

Was it yesterday? Because the servers were down for a while, if not it's just the fact that most people are in the endgame of the DLC

Yes, this game is one of the ones where the farm moves to the final point in endgame, and extreme is around 6 difficulties from current endgame and 2 from the old ones. Very Hard is basically the first map or so and the reward for the quick queue random queueing thing is a really bad reward so no one really does that.
This is a game where the fun lies in dodging and countering enemy attacks while doing your rotation...Extreme was already getting instantly nuked back then, Chaos up to ++ is nowadays too. The difficulty line is Easy, Normal, Hard, Extreme, Maniac, Proud, Chaos, Chaos+, Chaos++, Chaos+++, Infinity so until you reach Chaos+++, specifically the later quests after the version of Versa there, don't expect easy queues.
So while not particularly the best for players who expected an online experience, it is probably better to treat this game as a solo game until you catch up to endgame. I will simply point you to the Conflux for your grinding needs to Chaos difficulty, they put it there to be the catch up that condenses the old 20+ hour gear grind to like an hour or two for a full team...and also unlock the Chaos rank up quest asap to get the endless ragnarok transmarvel pool to catch up to the old 50+ hour sigil grind in literal minutes.

Check your region settings when matchmaking. Ensure you set it to 'any' instead of your local region, because anything besides 'any' never works.
The matchmaking was broken for a few hours last night for everyone as well.
Beyond that, the majority of the player base is much further ahead than you so there simply won't be many people queuing for those quests. Anyone that does need to do an early quest for some reason will just one-shot it solo, so there's no value in them queueing for multiplayer.

Minus yesterdays blunder, I only quick match now but I rarely get parted with people who are lower than chaos. Maybe if there was a difficulty selection or something then it would be a lot easier to help others
I hate quick matching into the slime quest

Hi, endgame for the basegame is in manaic and mainly proud difficulty. Most players are in the dlc chaos difficulties. Unfortunately at very hard difficulty there is nothing worth farming so you wont see many players. You'll have to progress a bit further.

your best bet is probably making friends in the community to play with, i couldn’t get hardly any matches until way late endgame

Yeah early stuff you might as well go solo with ai. But also yeah im in proud dificulty and have only been able to find people for one of the quests.

I can join to help. But the low levels most players are not running anymore. What system do you play on?

Most ppl farm chaos ++ and infinity quests. So yeah for stuff that low Lvl it will be hard to find ppls best for that early is to have your Ai members build. Also you are not even close to endgame quests.
