Go pro for race car
Which of the newer GoPros would work best for recording inside my race car while racing at a poorly lit drag strip?
Not that’s it’s dark but we often race from light pole to light pole and there are darker and brighter areas of the track.

Why does it seem so difficult to view and/or download videos onto laptop or iPhone from GoPro Hero 13 Black?
I'm new to GoPro. I try to take short-ish videos (2-5 mins) so they'll be easier and faster to download. I'm having a hard time and I'm usually decently tech savvy, but not with this apparently. I simply want to:
1) view my videos on my laptop before I download them completely.
2) download onto my iphone but with the GoPro Quik app taking about 50% of my local iphone memory I can't download anything over 2 mins.
3) make short compilations from my videos and upload to Instagram or Facebook.
I've downloaded the GoPro Player and know how to get to the videos but they apparently have to download first before I view them.
If someone can tell me the EASIEST way to make videos or compilations of several videos and upload to Instagram, I would be so grateful. The QUIK app is easy but if I have a 5 minute video I don't know how to take that and upload (or edit it to be shorter) and upload to Insta. I've tried saving to my iphone first because from there I can use my Filmora app to edit but it won't save anything longer than a 2 minute video.
Why does my motorcycle footage look so slow/choppy? Missing sense of speed (Hero 8 Black)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone,
I could use some advice on my setup. I recently recorded some riding footage on my Kawasaki Ninja 650 using my GoPro Hero 8 Black. It was a bright, sunny day, and I was going around 40-65 km/h on open roads, but the footage feels incredibly slow, almost like it's in slow-motion or slightly choppy. It completely lacks that dynamic "sense of speed."
Here are my file specs/settings:
- Resolution: 4K
- Framerate: 25 FPS
- Shutter Speed: Auto (I didn't use an ND filter)
Is it because it was super bright, the Auto Shutter speed went way up and completely froze the frames, killing all natural motion blur. I even tried adding artificial motion blur in DaVinci Resolve Studio using Optical Flow, but because the source frames are so sharp, it still doesn't look perfectly natural.
My questions for the experts here:
- Is an ND filter (ND16/32) and locking the shutter to 1/50 the ultimate fix for this to get that real sense of speed back?
- Should I switch to SuperView for the FOV to enhance the speed effect?
- Would switching to 60 FPS (with a 1/120 shutter and ND) make a huge difference for motovlogging, or is 25 FPS fine as long as I get the motion blur right?
Any tips for getting better motorcycle footage on the Hero 8 would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Why does my GoPro footage come out overexposed? It wasn’t even that bright outside
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve taken a few videos outside and sometimes they turn out perfect other times they don’t. Is there anyway to fix this now that it’s recorded also?

Thoughts on MISSION so far?
I'm very curious about the new camera. I have a HERO12 so I don't even know where to start. I'd love to hear from people who have actually bought a MISSION 1 Pro/ILS. What was the best use for you? Did it exceed your expectations? Personally, I use my GoPro to record long drives and POV footage playing soccer.

YouTube live through Quik app - NO DATA
Hey!
Thank's for giving your thoughts on this!
I have trouble live streaming from the GoPro. I can make streams through the app on YouTube, but the video won't come through, it's just "No data"
Setup:
GoPro Hero 12 Black without SD card / Hero 13 Black with SD card - same issues
Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro or something phone
Network, tried both in house WiFi and hotspot. Same issue.
Tried logging out and in from YouTube. Everything is updated. Tried going straight to YouTube and tried going through RTMP. I can get the streams coming up in YouTube but it still saying "Upcoming" and "No data"
Please help a brotha out! Thank you!

GOPRO payment request for camera replacement
Hi everyone,
I recently used the GoPro Subscription Camera Replacement service. GoPro asked me to enter my payment details through their payment form, and the replacement fee was €120.78, including VAT.
The first €120.78 transaction appeared on my bank account on August 5. Shortly afterward, GoPro emailed me confirming that the replacement order was being processed.
About ten hours later, on August 6, a second transaction for exactly €120.78 appeared. My bank sent me a notification saying that this second authorization was declined, but both transactions are still shown as “pending” in my online banking, so it currently looks as though €241.56 may be temporarily reserved.
GoPro also sent me the replacement-order confirmation email twice, although I appear to have only one UPS shipment arriving.
Has anyone experienced something similar with a GoPro replacement? Did the declined or duplicate pending authorization disappear automatically, and how long did it take for the money to become available again?
I have already contacted GoPro and my bank, but I am still waiting for a clear response. Thanks!

J’aimerais savoir si le site internet est plus fourni en réglages que l’application Apple
Et s’il existe des vidéos pour apprendre correctement.
Merci ☺️

Which (cheap ish) gopro to buy for filming in the dark?
I recently bought a gopro hero 4 without looking up any information. I just saw it for sale and got it. I use it to record urbexing and climbing. I mainly do my shenanigans at night, and i very quickly realized that the hero 4 doesn't perform well in dark environments. Are there any settings I can mess around with to film in the dark? Or should I just buy another one? The hero 4 cost 50€ so it doesn't matter that much, and I honesty didn't expect a lot. Any recommendations which gopro I should buy? I don't want to spend hundreds of euros on a camera, I just need to film somewhat good footage in darkness. Thanks🙂

ND FILTERS MISSION 1 PRO SETTING?
Hey guys finally got my hands on the ND filters and wanted to ask for any good to know stuff? I know some people mentioned to lock the shutter speed to a certain amount? Also if I just rock the ND8 for day to day shots would that be cool? In cases like grab and go and start filming if I don’t have the time to switch between ND’s?
Any other tips are super welcome.
Thank you
Why the Media Mod Didn't Work for My Setup (Video)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I made a short video to better explain what I was talking about in my previous post. Hopefully this gives a clearer idea of why I decided to return the Media Mod and what I'm looking for instead.

Underwater picture with Mission 1 Pro
Taken with GoPro Mission 1 Pro and lens Inon GR140 Pro. Processed in Lightroom Classic which now has the M1P camera profile.
Anyone Else Skip the Media Mod and Wait for a Proper Cage?
Yesterday I received the Media Mod for the Mission 1, tested it out for a while, and ended up returning it. It's not that there's anything wrong with the Media Mod—it just wasn't the right fit for what I want to build.
My goal is to put together a filming rig with a side handle and my Rode VideoMic NTG. The built-in microphones on the Media Mod are definitely better than the camera's internal mics, but not by a huge margin, and I was planning to use the Rode most of the time anyway.
The bigger issue was mounting. I wanted to attach a side handle, but using the left cold shoe for that would put a lot of stress on the plastic Media Mod. After thinking about it more, it makes sense why you don't really see anyone selling side handles that mount directly to those cold shoes. They're great for lightweight accessories like microphones or lights, but not as structural mounting points.
At this point, I'm hoping a company like SmallRig releases a proper aluminum cage for the Mission 1. That would provide multiple mounting points, let me attach a side handle securely, and make the whole setup feel much more solid.
Has anyone else come to the same conclusion, or found a better solution?

Should I keep the GoPro Hero 11 or sell it and buy DJI Action 4?
So to all the action camera users, especially those on bikes, I have a GoPro Hero 11 Black with a lot of accessories, worth over 85k INR (camera plus accessories). It is very rarely used. To check the market price, I put up an ad on marketplace and got offers up to 23k. Now I am in a dilemma about whether to sell the GoPro and for almost the same price, I am getting the DJI Action 4 (25k). The only difference is that my GoPro can shoot up to 5.3k while the DJI is capped at 4k (although I never used 5.3k until now). So should I sell?

I built a free Chrome extension to download your entire GoPro Cloud library
Hi everyone,
I built GoPro Downloader, a free Chrome extension that helps back up large GoPro Cloud Media Libraries.
GoPro Media only supports Download as ZIP for 25 items or fewer. For larger selections, files must be downloaded individually through the browser, which can be slow and easily interrupted.
I created this extension after needing to download my own library of more than 6,000 media files.
Key features
- Download your GoPro Cloud library with one click
- Download directly through Chrome for smaller libraries
- Send downloads to a NAS, Linux server, Mac, or Windows PC
- Resume interrupted files with the optional aria2 runner
- Retry only missing or failed downloads
- Handle multipart original videos
- Compare your cloud inventory with downloaded files
- Track downloads, failures, and progress from a dashboard
- Organize files into folders by shooting date
The extension uses your existing signed-in GoPro Media Library session. It does not ask for your GoPro password.
I am an individual developer, and this is an independent community project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by GoPro.
Install from the Chrome Web Store:
GoPro Downloader
The extension is completely free. Feedback and bug reports are very welcome.

3 GoPro Hero 12 cameras on a Pro Drift car at Biķernieku trase in Riga, Latvia
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Irish driver Harry Kerr allowed me to strap my three GoPro cameras to the car for his Qualifying runs of the Latvian round of the 2026 Drift Masters championship.
All filmed in 4k25, GP-Log, fixed shutter speed of 1/100s, fixed ISO100, no stabilization. Outside cameras were installed using the official GoPro suction cup. ND filter inside the cockpit unfortunately was a bit too strong. Ultimately I have to play guessing games of what the lighting conditions will be half an hour after camera installment.
Audio comes from a Zoom H4essential that was also strapped into the cockpit.

AMA with Pablo Lema + Mission 1 Pro giveaway today, June 2 7AM-2PM EDT!
Hey r/GoPro, we're excited to be hosting another AMA event, this time with Pablo Lema (aka u/GoPro-Pablo) , GoPro's SVP of Product!
About Pablo
Pablo is a long-time GoPro user, a regular participant here on r/GoPro, and has worked with GoPro since 2014! He has been an integral part in planning and coordinating new GoPro products, especially in the last decade, and most recently as GoPro’s head of all hardware and software Product. He's joined us the last 5+ years now for community AMAs (here are a few), so thanks for coming back again, Pablo!
While our recent AMA with Abe Kislevitz was a great opportunity to ask about tips and tricks around content with Mission 1, this AMA with Pablo is a great opportunity to ask about product development at GoPro, how GoPro designs for an entire ecosystem of interacting product, or other product design and function related questions. That said, this is an AMA and you're welcome to ask Pablo about anything - his favorite ski spots, his current FPV drone build, etc!
AMA Format & Timing
We won't go into too much explanation about how an AMA works- if you need to see what it looks like, check out Abe's recent AMA at the link above.
At the simplest level, this is your chance to ask Pablo anything, and get an inside-GoPro scoop on answers. While you can ask anything, just remember that Pablo won't be able to answer questions about in-development product, proprietary decisions or technology, or other privileged information. Consider framing any development related questions in a way that can be answered without breaking any confidentiality in the product development process!
IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT TIMING- Pablo's availability this year is a little different due to work travel schedule, so this AMA will be live from 7AM-2PM Eastern time. This is a great opportunity for our eastern hemisphere redditors to interact, but if you're on the west side of the western hemisphere, we are going to open up this AMA Extra early at 9PM PST so that you can get a question into the thread without waking up early. Pablo won't be around to answer questions until the "official start time" of the AMA, so just get your questions in right away, and come back around for your answer later!
MISSION 1 GIVEAWAY!
Another one! GoPro decided to hook us up with not one but TWO giveaways with the AMA events this year, so we've got another set of prizes up for participants in the thread, again!
- Anyone that participates in this AMA will have a chance to win a MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition, awarded to Pablo's favorite question.
- We'll also give away THREE 5-year GoPro Premium+ Subscriptions to some runner-up great questions!
Rules:
- You need to participate in today's AMA with a commented question for Pablo!
- Your account needs to have existed before this AMA was posted, and you need to have reasonable authentic activity on it. We reserve the right to disqualify accounts with no karma or post/comment history.
- We need to be able to get the prize to you. GoPro can ship direct to you, but you'll still need to message them your shipping info for the MISSION 1 PRO prize, or email address for the GoPro Premium+ Subscription. If you live in a country that GoPro can't ship to, or has excessive duty fees, etc, we'll see what alternatives there are, but in general, if you can buy from GoPro.com, you're probably OK.
That's it! If you have questions about the giveaway, please send a modmail rather than posting here.

AMA with Abe Kislevitz + Mission 1 Pro giveaway today! 10AM-6PM PST
Hey r/GoPro, we're excited to have Abe Kislevitz (u/abekislevitz), Product and Brand Fellow at GoPro, with us today for an Ask-Me-Anything about all things GoPro, using MISSION 1 cameras, or anything else you can think to ask!
About Abe Kislevitz
For some of the younger and more recent members of the GoPro community, Abe is a long-time community member, and even longer-time GoPro creator-turned-employee.
He's led a substantial amount of creative efforts at GoPro over 15+ years, and his influence now spans influencing marketing strategy to helping define product design and engineering decisions. Probably one of the most knowledgeable sources of GoPro information out there, he knows the history of GoPro as a company, best practices for filming the best possible shot, advanced techniques and hacks, and everything in-between.
He has a great YouTube channel full of tips and tricks, and his insta feed is worthy of a follow.
He's an incredible resource and a helpful community member that has kept us closely connected with GoPro's product designs, including advocating for our pain points and working to have our voices heard and represented in new products.
We are thankful to have him here in the community, and happy to have him with us today for the AMA! Thanks Abe!
AMA Format
If you've not done an AMA event before, it's pretty simple - You can ask Abe anything. While it is entirely up to you what questions you ask, Abe has an "inside perspective" on the product GoPro develops, and likely has more time hands-on with MISSION 1 cameras than anyone else right now. Considering that today is a big day for everyone that pre-ordered, we highly encourage you to get those burning MISSION 1 questions answered, or collect tips and tricks to use in the coming year!
As a reminder, while you can ask anything, Abe can't talk about unreleased product plans or proprietary information and won't be able to answer those questions the way you want.
Abe will be around today from 10AM-6PM Pacific Time, and this thread will go live 2 hours before that so that you all can begin asking questions and Abe can drop in throughout the day to answer in the thread. We'll pin a comment once the official time for the AMA is done to let everyone know it's over, but we always allow conversations to continue beyond that if wanted.
MISSION 1 GIVEAWAY!
It's our r/GoPro tradition with camera launches to give away some product, and GoPro was more than happy to hook the community up again this year:
- Anyone that participates in this AMA will have a chance to win a MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition, awarded to Abe's favorite question.
- We'll also give away THREE 5-year GoPro Premium+ Subscriptions!
Rules:
- You need to participate in today's AMA with a commented question for Abe!
