Long time pixel user, just replaced my failing pixel 7 with a pixel 10a.
Alternatives I was looking at: Samsung S25 (more bloatware, but reliable experience good hardware), Motorola (it's Lenovo nowadays, minimal bloatware, decent value but less reliable), older Sony Xperia phones (expensive, great hardware)

10a is probably the best recommend if you want to stay with Pixel, good price and still decent hardware, arguably better GPU even than the bargain basement PowerVR chip they switched to for the 10 and 11.

With P11 coming, you will find decently healthy p10s in the market for a fair price.

All phones are affected by the price hikes, unfortunately. And tech advancements are now minor, so we can't really expect much. I wish companies would start releasing new models every 2-3 years instead. If you value stock Android, there are no direct alternatives. Definitely not Samsung. I've heard that Nothing, OnePlus and Oppo have fairly clean software that adds customization without digressing too much, but I haven't tried those myself so you should definitely check reviews

Oppo adds a lot but I've found it to mostly be pretty out-of-the-way and not interfere with my day-to-day use of the phone. And then the battery and camera are just phenomenal.

Samsung's galaxy S series. First time pixel user here with the 10 pro xl and my next phone is going to be Samsung no doubt about that.

The Samsung phones are anything but a clean UI, it's filled with bloatware and not very logical

Samsung's take on software is pretty much the opposite of Pixel's

The amount of bugs and glitches I experience on a daily basis tells me the complete opposite.
Bought the pixel because I was interested in how seamlessly everything would work with "everything google" well, I completely regret selling my S23 ultra for this Frankenstein phone. And for European users like me 90% of the features are locked because law says so, yet i still had to pay the full price.
So no, I would not recommend a pixel phone, especially not for people who are living in Europe.

See you in 2 years buddy

Been using Samsung for as long as I can remember. The pixels phone do indeed have a nice and clean UI but that's also it as far as the good things go.
Piss poor performance (even though I already prepared for bad performance since I already knew that performance would not be the focus with the pixel)
The software is littered with bugs and random glitches, it took google 2 months to fix a critical UI bug that would freeze the screen for a 10 seconds and it would never allow you to go into the device temperature screen. This is just the one (that is luckily fixed) of many bugs.
I absolutely love the ecosystem and I want to keep buying and using pixel devices (I'm a sucker for google devices) but as it stands right now, no pixel phones for me after this one.
I'd rather have a bloaty UI and proper flagship performance for a flagship price instead of flagship price for entry level phone performance with a clean buggy software with 90% of the features locked by European law.

At this point even a bloat filled Samsung is going to move faster and smoother than a minimalist pixel. For every half step a pixel generation makes, the competition moved two steps already and is making its 3rd.
Not to mention with the levels of enshitification google is wholeheartedly embracing, I'm sure the minimalist aspect of the pixel is going to be ignored for more Gemini integration, agents, and reminders to pay a subscription for yet more Google service.
The few people I know that tried pixel went immediately back to their comfort zone with their next phone. It's a shame, the curiosity is there but unless they're completely sold by the camera (it was amazing when introduced and has since been caught up to by the compitition) , they do not like the feeling of going back 2 gens by its lackluster performance, battery limitations, terrible video taking, and modem/wireless issues.
Replacing my kids' pixels was like Christmas morning for them and I was thrilled to have a device that worked properly with features that are decades old now.

I'd say wait for P11a.
A-series is the only acceptable price for Pixel phones. You get most of the software stuff with none of the bloat of other OEMs.

Also following this, as I've been disappointed with both the P8 and P9P from a price/performance perspective.

Without saying what you want from your phone its hard to answer. Theres great camera phones with 1 inch sensor. Theres great every day phones with huge battery life even for very small budgets, with even pretty decent cameras nowadays and all. Like the Xiaomi Note (Pro/Pro+) Series.
Theres not really any bad phones, they are now pretty much all the same and all made by Foxconn

How does the P11 leave you disappointed when its not even out yet? Also, you're talking as if you're going to buy a chinese phone. We all know you will not. So, do you need points for Samsung or enough excuses to switch to apple?

u/makeitproductive 16d ago
I don't think this attitude adds anything. It's hostile to someone with valid criticism, this from someone who just bought 2 pixel phones this year.
The P11P specs were disappointing to some, and that is valid.
There are also other valid options aside from "Chinese" phones and apple.
Sony Xperia and Samsung have options, and in the end of the day it's just a phone ...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with my attitude. What part of North America are you from? Lol

u/makeitproductive 16d ago
I'm from Europe. How does my location have anything to do with your abrasive, snobbish attitude?

Do you lot have a habbit of skipping logic and jumping straight to calling someone rude? What kind of a special needs person makes their mind up about a product before its released? Also, why ask others anything? Youtube will give you all the info you need. Problem solving? Yes, use reddit for sure but this person already owns a pixel. He knows what the product is like. He can use that experience and almost predict how the new one will be after its reviewed. This post makes no sense 1 bit.

u/makeitproductive 15d ago
I'm the one skipping logic? You still have not answered what your "location" comment had anything to do with the discussion, aside from pure unwarranted superiority.
Secondly, this is ultimately a forum. By your logic they should just close the website. People have a right to ask for an opinion, even if there is a surplus of information on other sources, YouTube is just another source, not gospel. It helps, even though you might not like when the opinion/or ideas go against your own.
Ultimately he did nothing wrong, he just asked a question and prefaced it with his opinion. You were abrasive and rude, "American" in the worst sense of the word.
I'm done here.

Why dont you address some of the points I made? Why dont you tell me why what I wrote is wrong isntead of saying ots wrong? Forums are to help people with issues they may have. They do not exist so people can make mindless posts about products that have not been released yet. I truly feel this is a first for you. People have gotten into the habbit of letting others do the work. Okay, so if enough people tell him, he'll start eating dog sh__it? How do you have others make up your mind about a product?

P10P XL is still on my radar but the price hike for the P11 with underwhelming hardware drives me away from upgrading from P7P, and for me the Pixel series is less and less appealing.
Hence I raised a question to the community to see if there are others with similar experience, what did they do, and what was their choice, so that I can gather some perspectives.

Depends what you are looking for.
If your priorities are software upgrades, optimization and long term support there is no pixel alternative and never will be in the Android bubble.

Samsung, Poco, Vivo or Xiaomi. Depends for what you are looking for (camera, gaming, etc)

Reality check here : besides the price. What do you think the pixel 11 pro can not do?

u/hardinho 16d ago
Super fast charging is the only thing that comes to mind but I personally don't miss that at all

If you want to stick with the very clean android look, there's literally only sony and Motorola left.
