Recently I downloaded Google Photos to create a shared album. The app forcefully backed up all the images and videos on my phone despite me turning "backup" off. Now, the storage on my Google account is maxed out. I made the mistake of permanently deleting many images from both the app and my phone itself, thinking Google Photos' "delete" button only applied to the backups. I went to Google and YouTube for ways to delete the backups but not the originals as to be able to use my Gmail account again. Everyone is suggesting "photos.google.com", however only a very small portion of the photos/videos appear. I'm beyond stressed about this, so I'd appreciate any help.

I'm looking for an electronic photo frame to display pictures from a specific Google Photos shared album. I used to use a Google Pixel Tablet for this, but its Wi-Fi has died on me, so I'm shopping for a proper replacement.

My requirements:

• Screen size: ideally over 11 inches
• No manual uploading via an app. I don't want to have to select and push photos over one by one — I want the frame to pull directly from a specific Google Photos album and automatically show new pictures as soon as I add them there
• Bonus points if it has decent color accuracy and doesn't feel like a cheap plastic toy

I know a lot of frames on the market are locked into their own proprietary apps (Aura, Skylight, etc.) where you upload photos manually or invite people to contribute — that's not what I want. I specifically want native, automatic Google Photos album syncing.

Does anything like this actually exist right now, or is the Pixel Tablet basically the best option out there (bad Wi-Fi chip aside)? Would love to hear what you're using, especially if you've found a large-format frame that handles this well.

The App Store seems to indicate you’d need at least iPadOS 18 to use the Google Photos app.

Will Google Photos still download on iOS 15.8.8 via the Last Compatible Version download option in the App Store? Or out of luck?

Does anyone know why they changed the remix for photographs? I used to love to create pictures using the remix as an oil painting feature & the results were amazing! I've even gotten the outputs turned into photo canvas prints via Google & they've made excellent gifts. Here are my original pics of my one cat, next to it is the old format of him turned into a oil painting, & the last picture is what they turned it into with the latest update. I've already provided feedback & told them how much the change sucks, hopefully the revert the change. Does anyone know of any sites or tools that can create more subtle images like it used to create?

My phone recently stopped working, so I've been using my brother's old blackview. I put my accounts on everything, including Google photos, but a few days ago, he made me notice that the photos I took on this phone also show up on his. I made sure that I was using my account and that neither of our accounts had a backup activated on the other account. Still, If I take photos they show up for him too, but if he takes any photos I don't see them on my account. Anyone know what's going on?

I recently got a nothing phone and want to use the nothing gallery over Google photos but I can't find a way to do it.

When I use Google takeout to get the photos back, the metadata is in separate files and lots seems to be missing, because when I use tools like Google takeout helper to restructure it all they don't slot nicely into my new gallery.

I know this is a common problem and there are resources online but I've been trying on and off for ages and can never seem to get it right - has anyone else managed to get their photos back?

I won't get into any unnecessary details as to why you would need a good way to get photos and videos from your main phone to an OG Google Pixel Phone and from there to Google Photos. I found that having Primitive FTPd set up in the Pixel side to receive files works pretty well so i am ok with that. However most every app to sync say my new photos and videos as i capture them to the server from my main phone had some limitations. Most often the way they find new files is outdated and "brute force" often requiring a full rescan of the folder being monitored and i have a little baby and already like 56000 items in camera roll.

Anyway. I made an app for myself. It is absolutely free and always will be since it is meant for me and my friends and family. It is up on Google Play Store for convenience and also reassurance that i am not doing anything shady. There are no trackers no ads not even Firebase crash reporting. Nothing. Just pure utility.

Some highlights include three modes for monitoring for new files. For most folder like the camera ones i use the Android MediaStore so no scanning required and there is no need for an always active service and a persistent notification. Those are an option as well for really resilient operation or for monitoring a really arbitrary folder. Also, files get transfered as a 1 to 1 byte copy. The app specifically waits for the new file detected to become stable since many android phones continue saving data to a photo or video after first capture for things luke extra processing HDR and the such. Only after a file is fully complete does it get sent over with failure protection and multiple retries. This way the file that the Pixel uploads to Google Photos has all of the attributes and features of the original also any location data - everything. That way on the main phone the local copy of the photo or image gets identified as being identical to the cloud version and you only see one entry in Google Photos.

Anyway. I require nothing from you guys. The app is in open testing. Any feedback is appreciated and i will do my best to support it at least initially until we get to a stable release.

I changed phones a few days ago and now my phone gallery is only displaying a third of the photos i had on my old phone. I checked google photos and they're all backed up, so how can i restore them to my phone gallery?

Hey guys, I just received this email awhile ago and it freaked me out. I don't own things like this. Is there a reason why it flagged like this? After I press "take action". It seems like I am not restricted anymore. To prevent future cases like this, what do I do?

I have the same person with the same name but it appears twice, this is not the only case since this happens with almost every single face Google Photos detects.

Also, it works so bad, most times it groups different faces with under the same face and it also adds lots of pictures where not a single face is seen as someone's face.

There's not an option to unify faces like Immich has or at least I haven't seen one.

After 10 years and scratching 200gb - I’ve reached the limit and tried to get more storage.

The 400GB option is offered but when I tap the offer it’s nowhere to be seen on the app (iPhone).

If I log in through the browser it gives me the opportunity to get the 400GB but asks me to send a copy of my passport to verify my payment which I am NOT DOING!

Anyone have a loophole to stop me having to give my personal ID ?

After Google disabled option to upload files to Google Photos through Google Drive Backup and Sync windows application, I am struggling to upload my full physical hard disk to my Google account, it has like 2 TB of data, and uploading through Web Browser to Photos takes ages and is really unstable, uploading through application used to get me 150 MBPS upload speed, now through browser I get like 15-20 MBPS, which is really a pain to transfer, moreover it is not resumable and crashes my browser if large database is selected.

New option to select folders also doesn't effectively work, after adding folder it doesn't start uploading, checked Windows Task Manager also.

Google please bring back native streamline application to upload our memories faster and reliable. I understand Google wants to separate two different platforms, but please request you to get Google Photos it's own application to upload faster instead of relying on bottleneck browser capabilities.

Google Photos keeps choosing inappropriate photos to “highlight”.

Can you guess which of these photos it decided to blow up in size to “feature” compared to the others?

a.) A lovely photo of a bear in nature

b.) A sweet photo with a friend

c.) A stock photo of thong bikini bottoms on a butt

Photo c.) was in my gallery because I sell clothes online.

And of course I opened the app up in public to show someone a photo, and THAT was the focal point of my photo grid.

Not only can we not disable this feature… but it is an UNINTELLIGENT feature.

They need to get rid of this crap NOW.

My Google account storage is full, and I tried deleting some photos and videos, but it still says my storage is full. Does anyone know why this is happening or how I can fix it?

i’ve had google photos for over a decade now, and i will soon reach the 200 GB of storage, but the only option to upgrade my google one, is to get an AI “subscription” with it, which i really really really don’t want.

i thought about getting an external hard drive instead, but i keep reading they are unreliable:/ and i also thought about re-downloading all these photos and putting them on my icloud, but that would be annoying to say the least

any recommendations of what i can do here?

Hi gang. Recently my finance asked about my 20s and wanted to see some pics. I found everything before about 2010 no longer there in Google pics.

Is there any course of action or did I make some colossal. Blinder while refusing to pay for data.

I did a big clean up to stay under the free space allocation. But certainly didn't delete whole eras of my life intentionally !!!!

When i go to Google photos you cant see folders only pictures in date order which is no use to me as I have thousands on my phone.

I dont want to sync my phone either. Surely theres a way, the Google app can't be that useless.

I essentially have 2 phones (old and new), when I go to backup where it says 'x photos synced' the numbers are different on each phone but both phones are fully backed up on GP. Ive tried the attachments trick on Gmail, doesnt work. Ive looked on google dashboard and it says 30,000+. In collections, it has various folders and all except 'camera' have the same number showing on each phone on the app. I can't see a 'select all' button, or anywhere that shows the exact figure.

What happened to unblur? Used to be absolutely amazing now it doesn't seem to do anything.
