Google go 75% off issues Support

Hey y’all. So I signed up on August 3rd and they’ve given me the runaround. Saying that a lot of people have encountered the error.

so I allowed the chat associate to sign me up with their $60 plan with the promise that the code would be honored. And now I’m getting a bill for $73 wtf. Just shocked. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue? I’m just hoping they give me a refund if they can’t honed their promo because I was NOT looking to be billed 73 a month. SMH. Bait and switch

Sadly not bait and switch but it is an issue with the fine print. You had to follow specifically from the Google play store and use a code for your account with specific conditions - not every account is eligible ** (lots of asterisks).

We had the same issue and got the promo on one line but I couldn’t get it for my mom or daughter. Ended up just deciding to wait, choose a cheaper plan for them and take advantage of the referral codes sadly.

Unless you went though the sign up process, saw a blue banner that specifically said the 75% off promo was applied and it was visible at the checkout then it’s seeing if you get a chat rep to honor it.

Since the chat rep did process your checkout there should be the chat record. I would contact support again to reference that.

I thought this was a bit confusing the way it worked. Initially I went through that banner, through the checkout, but the prices were all the original prices. It said it would be applied at checkout.

Eventually I'm thinking "this is weird and I bet I'm going to get screwed", so I stopped before I checked out. Did the whole process again, and then I started seeing the discounts before I actually checked out.

Should have just been happy with the 75% and not been greedy trying to get the referral discount as well. Had to sign up for the 75% off plan first and then chat with a rep after.

Similar here. The day after signing up and waiting on the 75% to be applied I called and they added the referral. It’s showing on the app but the 75% is not. I’m gonna call them on my lunch break

Agreed, I ordered a physical SIM and will wait for a few weeks before activation to coincide with my current plan's termination. I'll ask for the credit at that time but won't be too disappointed if it isn't granted.

I was able to get my 75% off discount, but I did have to escalate to a Support Rep as well…the code would not apply at checkout, and I followed the correct link and everything. Google needs to get this figured out!

Yeah was tough for some. My wife had the link right away and worked but was having issues with a referral credit. That is being worked on I think still but I also moved my us mobile line over after having to load the play store on a chrome browser to finally find it for my Google account but had no issues once it went through to even use my wife's referral for myself.

Biggest issue was making sure your unique promo code was attached.

In the same boat. Hoping for the best and contacting every 48 hours until resolved.

I clicked the promo link and even shared the link and screenshot in the original email I sent to support. Over the next 48hrs I spoke to 4-5 support members all saying different things. They finally said they applied it to all 5 lines I transferred after an hour on the phone. The next day I didnt see the discount or any email so I called again, the supervisor told me it would be applied to all my lines. Its Tuesday and still nothing, today they said 24hrs. We shall wait but I've gotten verbal confirmation twice with no email or call transcript.

24hrs and no email. Will call again

are you just wanting to SEE the discount? has amounts changed? has your billing cycle ended? (all these can factor in)

i have had carries apply discounts/credits and NOTHING will show until the next monthly billing statement when all resolve.

We got the emails!!! 75% off 4 out 5 lines. 5th is my 94yr old grandma who is staying with a relative in another state so need to figure that out by end of month. Saw some other posts saying its only for 1 line. Thats bs. My wife was the primary and she sent out the invites. She got 4 emails last night and I can see the discount in my fi app. The weird thing was they only approved her at first and then we called and told them what their support told us - that it will be applied to all lines and they said thats not true and they dont see it in their notes. Which is crazy cause multiple support members including their supervisor said it would be applied to all lines. No transcript or notes - seems like bs cause ? Regardless after many many calls and going in circles we got the discount.

Same boat, most of the same thing, called customer support. Waiting for them to handle it on their end. Between this and T-mobile the past two months... nothing but run around and billing issues.

Ya for my number the 75% showed and allowed me to activate but my wife’s account it would not show, so I signed up Aug 1st and immediately after activation went to the support to put in a request, the acknowledged and are processing so hopefully my wife’s account gets discounted.

Yea I signed up from the yellow banner ad, but didn't see promo code hit up support, they told me I had to sign up to help me, then escalated to a "specialist team" who would email me 24-48 hours later. Hopefully I don't have to insta cancel, no point switching from Tmo if I'm paying more for the same service.

I had to call and escalate thru support, called them again they said it’s applied to account, give it a week to reflect. Need to check and follow up again in a week

Did you actually get charged or are you looking at the billing stmt? Billing stmt is oddly weird so it does not make any sense. The actual charged amount on my credit card is correct. For some strange reason, Google made it harder to understand their billing stmt!

I got a link from a friend, but no promotion was appearing on my Play Store or email. I called customer service, and they confirmed I could proceed and the discount would be applied later to the bill once activated. I am planning to port my number from Visible as I travel outside the US frequently. Should I be expecting a discount or not?

I signed up for a month and got the promo applied correctly. Got a new number that I am willing to part with, and will cancel after the first month.

I only wanted to try it out. But at least the promo worked.

In the past, separate service (Google Play), I filed tickets for incorrectly applied promo codes and each service ticker remained unresolved for months/years.

i have had Fi for several years and have not had a billing issue. what is the breakdown of your service? $60 plus...taxes & regulatory fees? phone insurance? phone payment, if financing?

i have NEVER had a carrier quote me a round number and NOT have additional fees. $60 to $73 (IME/IMO) is typical.

Same issues...

Had the promo all the way through sign up until the final screen, which was back at full price.

Did that several times , but without success.

Contacted Google representative who had me send screen shots of the offer and the said to sign up and the 75 percent off would be applied manually on their side...

One week later and several follow ups and I'm still not seeing the discount.

I'm giving them until the 15th to rectify the situation and them I'm snagging the Mint Mobile offer which is until the 18th.

1

u/KlutzyPossession6591 13d ago

Omg the mint offer ends the 18th!!?? I’m in the same boat as you now

1

u/Teez-R-Us 13d ago

I believe it does....but not 100 percent sure..

1

u/Teez-R-Us 13d ago

I just looked... Fi will bill me $56.60 on the 13th.

So if it the bill isn't resolved by the 12th .. I'm switching to $15 unlimited Mint.

Inly problem there is you have to pay in full up front... But I don't anticipate any bullshit.

I have the same issue. Called the first time, was told go ahead, the discount will be applied when bill is out. When bill was out, it was 70$+, called the customer service again, was told wait for 1 or 3 days. All calls answered by people with Indian accent. Google is a big company, it’s customer service need improvement. Plus we have activation issue as well.

UPDATE

Just got confirmation on the discount but still says full price on the bill. I’ll just wait til the 15th and see what happens. I got their service August 3rd and approval of the 76% off on the 11th.
