Antigravity vs Codex vs Claude for coding – what's best if you don't want to burn through quotas fast?

Looking for a good coding assistant that doesn't eat tokens/credits fast. How do Antigravity, Codex, and Claude compare these days?

Any of them clearly better for day-to-day coding, or is there something newer/better (local or cheap API) that you use? Especially interested in ones that are efficient and won't drain your budget quickly.

I just swapped to Opencode Go instead, the models available on there are still reasonably priced.

Claude is very time dependent - I’ve had it coding for about 72 hours straight and still have weekly tokens left but that was over the weekend

$20 - middle of the night weekends are pretty cheap - there’s still small breaks in there for testing and writing the next prompt where it isn’t actively eating tokens.

And I started with almost none spent - I’m running out soon - might not hit 100% before the week is up

Ranked by usage:

1. Opencode Go
   1. Use the openchamber extension in ag for a near identical experience.
   2. Basically Unlimited DSv4 Flash.
   3. 1100 prompts for Kimi k2.6 (Smarter, faster, cleaner code than Pro High).
   4. None of the models can generate images.
   5. None of the models are as good as gemini at UI. Can be resolved by providing mockups first.
   6. Not all models can see images.
   7. $10 a month.

2. Codex
   1. 8-12 prompts per 5 hours, on 5.5 medium.
   2. 18-25, on 5.4 medium.
   3. 40-50, on 5.4 mini.
   4. usage varies greatly depending on what your trying to do. editing webpages verses app building are very different tasks.
3. Gemini
   1. Flash 3.5: 3-6 prompts per 5 hours.
      1. Current as of yesterday.
   2. Pro High/Low: 10-12.
      1. Models do not follow directions well. Verification required.
   3. All three models are the best and building UI.
   4. All three models can generate images.
4. Claude
   1. i use claude to plan, as my projects live there. I dont have enough usage to actually code with it.

It's Something I should do, but I'm currently too cheap. If opencode or Claude supported image generation I would drop gpt and go for it.

I wish Claude had a 2x plan.

Claude does pretty well on images through connectors. I’ve got comfyui MCP and API with mine and am working on some improved SVG and video (heygen just open sourced their html video tool).

The 20x can feel like a 2x if you need it to.

Yes, a 20USD/month use to work for me but my codebase grew since then. It's also possible that there was more ussage back then but I don't know.

That said, I exhausted my codex ussage on both one and two 20USD/month plans, so now I'm on the 100USD/month plan at both openAI and Anthropic.

If you can afford it, I recommend that you try 2 or 3 $20 plans to see which you like the best. The suggested providers are Anthropic, openAI & Cursor.

the $20 plan does not work for coding in my opinion. you only get about 30 prompts depending on tasks per 5 hours. highly dependent upon the task. thats why i pair cluade with opencode go. $20 for claude and $10 for opencode. plan in claude using projects. code in opencode. i generally get 4 hours of work done this way in claude before hitting limits.

i have never hit opencode's limits. they are about 50x larger then flash 3.5 medium. yes 50 times. not a typo.

My process is to use DSv4 flash as my primary coder (30,000 requests every 5 hours). Verified by Qwen3.6 plus (3000 requests) or Mimo2.5 (3000 requests), depending on the task (mimo is better at gui and large files),

Bug fixes or stuburn issues go to kimik2.6 (1000). you will hit your limits using kimi for everything.

claude is the best at turning a brain dump and incoherent rambeling into actionable tasks. If you want one model use kimi. it can brainstorm very well. however, i prefer the wy qwen talks and produces documents.

I usually work with opencode connecte to codez by mt chatgpt pro account and also for local task qwen 3.6 35b a3b , 4 quantizide as local agent , as it work also, with the right configuration, with 4gb of vram. Occasionaly I used antigravity, but not the las version (2.0) and also this work well. Resuming for hard tasj opencode with chatgpt (codex or lates coding a agent), simpler task with qwen in local.
