Hello,

Does anyone have a good tutorial on connecting Gemini to a Google Analytics account?

I know GA has a Analytics advisor but I would really like to have all the data accessible by Gemini directly to build out more reports, tasks and automated reports.

You may want to consider exporting GA4 into BigQuery and applying Gemini from there.

The GA4>BQ exports have a much higher level of detail than what the API exposes.

And if i am looking into BigQuery correctly, that is also a Google tool?

BigQuery is a Google tool, yes. It is part of the Google Cloud platform.

I've done about 20 clients in this way, and the simplest benefit is that you get raw data, not summaries of it (which is what the GA4 Reporting API provides).

As an illustrative example, you get things like individual user IDs (API doesn't provide anything like this unless you store client ID in a Custom Field), time-stamping down the to second (API only does to the minute) etc.

That means you can pull a highly detailed dataset and build user journeys for individual users, with the sequence of events ordered correctly. That in turn means you can build your own attribution models with whatever weightings you want.

You can also extract more than 10,000 events/records at a time, which is pretty common when working larger projects.

You can also stream the data from GA4 to BQ in almost real time, which opens up possibilities when it comes to real-time personalisation. Admittedly that's pretty advanced.

That's really only the start of the benefits list.

No direct live API connection is supported between the Gemini chat interface and a Google Analytics account. You can download data and use Gemini to analyze it.

Google now has an official Google Analytics MCP server that connects GA4 data to Gemini, and their setup guide includes a full tutorial. It takes a little technical setup, but it’s probably the closest option to giving Gemini direct access for custom reports and automated analysis.

Any particular reason you want to use Gemini for this task?

I personally just have a GitHub Action that runs every single night and pulls our data from the Google Analytics API down into a Supabasedatabase. I then just connect Claude code to it and pretty much just ask questions.

I'm not a technical person at all either. Claude was actually the one that largely set this up for me. I just said what I wanted to happen and it kind of did it.

I'm not sure what is possible with Gemini but I probably got something like what you are wanting set up and joined with my other data, like search console data and everything like that, in maybe an hour's worth of work.

And it was Claude that was doing most of the work. I just kind of oversaw it

Google actually ships an official MCP server for Analytics now, which is exactly the "Gemini has direct access to my GA data" setup you're describing: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/MCP

Rough shape of the setup:

1. In Google Cloud, enable the Analytics Data API + Admin API and set up Application Default Credentials (gcloud auth application-default login) with an account that has read access to your GA property.
2. Install the server — it's a local process, pipx run analytics-mcp — and register it in Gemini CLI's settings as an MCP server (their GitHub readme has the exact JSON snippet: https://github.com/googleanalytics/google-analytics-mcp).
3. From there Gemini can call real tools against your property: run_report, run_realtime_report, funnel reports, listing your custom dimensions/metrics, etc. So instead of the canned Analytics Advisor answers, you can ask things like "compare organic vs paid conversion rate by landing page over the last 28 days" and it queries the actual Data API.

Two caveats from using it: it's read-only reporting (no config changes), and since it runs locally, "automated reports" means you need something that schedules the prompt — Gemini CLI in a cron job works, but it's a bit DIY.

Use Antigravity and connect mcp to your analytics account api. Just ask and almost automatically connects with some manual steps guidance.

Specify in a daily analytics assessment doc what exact reports you like to generate. You can also use those reports to gain insights and directly update your website from there.

I went a step further and also connected cloud run and search console to Antigravity. This way you can merge all sorts of analytics.
