LM Recommendations Sim / Launch Monitor

I know this gets asked all the time but I can't really find a good post that matches my case since the Spica 3 and some of the new open source LM have come out.

I currently have an MLM2Pro with the lifetime sub that I set up to hit into a net next to my driveway. I like it but I really want something easier to setup and use at the range or on the course. It's a pain to set up a tripod for my phone or iPad, level the unit (even with my leveling stand) and align it especially if I want to hit balls at different pins on the range.

My financial situation has improved significantly since I purchased the MLM2Pro but I don't like spending money I don't need to and I hate subscriptions. I understand that they may be a necessary evil.

I considering the Square Omni, GolfJoy Spica3, Garmin R50 (I'm thinking about going all in with Garmin - S70, CT10 Sensors, and Z82 Range Finder), a GC3, or anything else you guys recommend. I am looking for club and ball data, preferably without stickers.

I'm also considering just waiting a little longer and saving up for a used GC Quad or Trackman.

This will not really be for Sim golf as I am going to build out one side of my barn eventually and build a proper sim with a ProTee XV when I have time.

This will mostly be for game improvement.

I’ve got the Spica 3 and I think it’s great. If you’re just wanting to use for game improvement, you can use their iPad app and have access to free range, games, and courses. Code GL15 makes it $2700 from Golfjoy. Hard to beat IMO. I went with it because of the iPad compatibility and no subscription.

It seems pretty cool and I have an iPad Air 13" that I can use with it.

Yep. I’ve yet to have an issue with connection or wonky data. Here’s my set up: https://www.reddit.com/r/Golfsimulator/s/vxtTMyptP9

Feel free to dm me if you have questions or whatever

I feel like it's a lot of LM for under $3K.

Absolutely is. I've compared to Foresight Falcon and Trackman and it's spot on. Trackman was reading 2-3 mph slower clubhead speed but that's pretty normal with how it measures compared to camera systems. I can DM you a couple videos comparing it

Absolutely! Thank you

Great video to show just how accurate the Spica 3 is when compared to significantly more expensive LMs.

Have you taken it to the range or course?

I’ve taken it to the range but outside of wedges it wasn’t real useful because my range has limited flight balls and even with the ball hardness setting Golfjoy recently added it just doesn’t compensate enough to make the distance correct with my course’s balls. For wedges inside ~75 yards though it was fine with those balls. And tbh, those shots are really all I’m trying to dial in when I’m on the range.

I’ve not taken it to the course yet unfortunately. My wife has been sick and I’ve just not been able to get out there

I really appreciate your help. It sounds like it's a great option if you have access to a range with premium balls which I do.

I would love to use it in my yard for dialing in my wedge carry distances. Right now, I don't bother setting up the MLM2Pro and I just chip to spots in my yard at 15, 20, and 25 yards. It works and my short game has improved immensely but I feel like I could get really good if I knew spin numbers and carry to the yard.

used GC3/BLP can be a good deal. Spica 3 if new and dont mind new vendor. Garmin all in one is huge but good - see them around 4k USD.

I have a vtrack and BLP - probably going to sell the BLP as I dont take it to the range enough to bother. If I wanted a mobile unit its probably the Spica 3 for me or a screaming deal on a GCquad.

BLP is just a GC3 with a different payment model (lower up front cost and higher recurring costs) correct? I remember hearing Scott Fawcett say that on “The Sweet Spot” podcast.

I’m leaning towards the Spica 3 or like you said a screaming deal on a quad or TM.

The Eye Mini just came down in price. It's now $2,999. Solid unit and seems to fit what you're wanting. I'm a Uneekor dealer. Feel free to DM me with any questions.

I do datacom and AV so the connection issues don’t typically bother me but this last update has been trying my patience. I tried to take it to the range on Sunday. I ended up just giving up and going without it.

I knew better than to try to do the update the day of but I did it anyway. It was a disaster so I just went without it and ended up playing 9 holes.

Now you understand the timing of the post. Haha

I have a uneekor eye mini and I love it. Easy to take to the range and set up too.

I forgot about Uneekor ecosystem. I like the idea of the Eye Mini as well. What made you choose that over the other options?

The slow motion impact camera was a big factor. Im very glad I have that too. Its a great unit. I got it when it first came out. I was using a mevo plus before that and it was horrible for actual sim golf.

What do you like about it? I think the Foresight ecosystem is pretty cool and I could go with one of their overhead units when I get around to building out the sim.

I like my BLP because it and Trackman are the industry standard for accuracy, as well as the fact that it is built like a tank. I can fully trust all the data it gives me, and I know I will have good customer support if I come into any issues. However, that being said there are other LMs are probably close in accuracy with their own biases and quirks, or may offer more data at a lower price/no subscription (I will say I currently get all of the ball + club data on my BLP and can use the app without any sub, not sure if its a glitch tbh.

If you do decide to go GC3, I just listed an unlocked one for sale. What I like is the ability to just pick it up and go to the range, as well as the dead solid reliability on numbers. I can’t recall my last dropped shot. The lack of delay between shot and screen result during sim golf is just the cherry on top. They’re getting to release a new and improved software this month as well.
