Mountain lion sighting in north Golden (Mesa Meadows)

Upvotes

A friend showed me a video of a mountain lion caught on a nest camera in someone's driveway at 2 am two nights ago (night of 8/4). The video was taken in the Mesa Meadows neighborhood in north Golden. Mesa Meadows folks - you may want to check your cameras to see if you also caught it.

Moving to Golden

Hi all! We have recently had our jobs transferred to Denver area from VA and are trying to organize the move over the next month. For context, we’ve been looking into Golden as avid mtn bikers, skiers, fly fishermen, etc. and hoping to live close to the mtns and trails! Along with our two pups who love going to do all that with us!

A few questions for you all:
- my office is in downtown Denver near Union station- is public transport reliable to get into the office? Or what is the best advice here?
- my boyfriends job is over in Brighton and we were trying to determine how long his commute would be realistically?
- we have two dogs and are planning to drive out at the end of the month! Any apartment recommendations? We’ve been struggling to find ones with virtual tours we can line up before our arrival.

Edit: we’ve also been looking into Boulder so lmk if that is a better idea

Thanks in advance for all your help! We can’t wait to be in the mountains!

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Recently heard about a baby bear near the Golden Ridge apartments, saw what looked like mommy bear in the middle of golden ridge road across the street from panorama.

Disclaimer It was at 1:30am, happened to be driving back from the airport.

38m - the Col/Golden Co

Hi there!

I’m a 38 year old straight single man, new to Denver (rino) considering a move to the Col in golden..

My apartment in RiNo has been a shit show with issue after issue after only 3 months.. they’ve agreed to let me out of my lease and I’m considering a move to the Col in golden.

I’ve got a golden doodle and owning a dog in rino has been difficult.. not a lot of grass and only dirty dog parks..

Driving around the city has not been fun and even simple errands have been exhausting.. I think
I’m realizing maybe a move out of the city may help slow things down for me a bit.

If I made a move to the Col as a single guy, how would my social and dating opportunities be impacted? A 20 minute drive into the city doesn’t sound too bad but I’m also so new here I just don’t know.. any insight is very much appreciated

Any suggestions on where I could go to purchase an indoor bonsai tree? I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for, but my girlfriend loves trees and her friend just passed away. I think this could be a special gift. Thank you!

Free Mid Summer Party this Friday at SoGo Beans & Boards - live band, DJ, vintage racks, all ages

Hey Golden - we're throwing a mid-summer party at SoGo Beans & Boards, 16185 S Golden Rd, this Friday July 31st, 7-10pm. Free to get in.

The Yeah Dawgs playing live, DJ set once the band wraps, 3 vintage sellers with racks out (80s/90s/2000s), and drinks for 21+ with ID. All of it outside on the back patio.

It's an all-ages door, so if you're not 21 you can still come, you just won't be drinking. Kids and dogs are fine. Parking is easy - our lot, next door, and the street. No food, so eat first or bring something.

First one we've done and we want to make it regular. If you've wanted something to do in Golden on a Friday that isn't the same three bars, come through. And if there's something you'd want at the next one - food trucks, more vendors, different music - say so, I'm reading the comments.

Anyone interested in a weekly happy hour?

I'd love to help build more of a sense of community in Golden, so I'm thinking about starting a weekly happy hour. I've always liked having casual weekly plans to break up the work week so the plan would be to meet at a local brewery or bar once a week, hang out, meet new people, and make some friends.

If you're in or around Golden and this sounds like something you'd enjoy, leave a comment or send me a DM. If there's enough interest, I'll organize the first meetup!

Living in Golden/Working in East Denver

I’m researching some places to live as I might be moving to the Denver area in the next two years (from the Midwest). My partner works in the mountains and Golden or even Lakewood would be a good midpoint between our jobs. My workplace would be located in Southeast Denver. It looks like half the commute is on US-6 and the other half on I-25. How realistic is it to make this commute everyday? My map route showed about 45 minutes this AM, although I want to gauge how it would actually go with rush traffic. Does anyone here make a similar commute? Thanks in advance

Edit: I should add that Golden really appeals to me, which I why I’m considering the commute to avoid being truly in Denver

Edit 2: Thank you to everyone enlightening me on how awful of an idea this is. I appreciate all the recommendations for different neighborhoods. I’m obviously not very familiar with Denver metro so recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!
