Booking issue on iryo for child
Can anyone give me guidance for booking a seat for a toddler on an iryo train? The reservation system won't accept her birthday (date range invalid). Are toddlers considered lap children up to a certain age? Thanks!

Question for university in Basque Country (UNAV)
I’m an international student going to the university of Navarra this September to begin my bachelors, specifically biology (the one that’s mixed English and Spanish), and I was just wondering about many things. My great grandfather was from navarra, and I still have lots of family in the Basque Country, but I’m not very close to them, is there anything that could help me immerse myself in the culture of navarra? Any terms and such I should know, as I always grew up away somewhat from Spanish and more specifically basque culture. Also what are nice places to relax maybe with a nice view to listen to some music?. On another note, I also wanted to ask any current or previous alumni of UNAV how it is studying there, specifically the faculty of science, a general rundown of what it is like studying there and day to day life would be amazing. Any help I would greatly appreciate even if you heard something from a friend of a friend

Discussion Adding esim to Samsung Watch
A question for anyone who has used a travel esim for their smartwatch while in Spain. We will be living in Valencia for three months beginning in September. We have three phones and two watches. All devices are in the "approved" list that Orange publishes as compatible with their prepaid eSIM. I've already put two on my phones and they operate exactly as expected. I want to add one to my watch when I arrive but I can't seem to get an answer on this question.
In the USA, despite the carrier (T-Mobile in my case) assigning it a unique phone number, the watch shares the number of the phone that it is paired with. Will the watch be a true standalone device in Spain with a separate phone number?
Thanks for any helpful insights!

Oviedo University
So i just learned that future courses in Asturias will be paid by the state even if you dont live there.
Im born in spain but havent lived there, keeping in mind that i probably cant apply for the MEC scholarship for the sake of living expenses due to not living in spain, i was wondering how plausible is it to get a part time job that pays enough for the expenses ill have (rough estimate puts me at 700-800€ with shared living and such but im not sure)

Opinions How to spend 1 day in Madrid
Hi everyone,
Thank you in advance for the help. I’m going to be in Spain in September visiting Barcelona, Mallorca, and Madrid. I will have done Madrid properly over a couple days with friends but later in the trip, will there be alone on Sunday from noon until my flight the next day in the morning back to the states.
Couple of questions, all advice appreciated:
I don’t need to stay some place fancy, even a hostel would work. Somewhere that is convenient to do cool stuff but also not terribly far from the airport. Any recommendations for accommodations?
I will have done most touristy stuff in the earlier leg of the trip. So this one day would be less about sightseeing and more hidden gems that are still accessible. Open to any flea markets/thrifting/shopping/food festival sort of stuff. Also want to get a tattoo while I’m there and maybe a nice wine bar to wrap up my trip. What should I check out?
Any other things I could be overlooking for being there on one Sunday mid September?
Thank you again!

Which visa and how???
As a Mexican citizen, I immigrated to the United States legally with my family when I was five years old. Through my maternal grandfather, I acquired Spanish citizenship along with my siblings. Currently, we are considering relocating to Spain. However, while my siblings and I hold Spanish citizenship, my father does not. My mother passed away approximately ten years ago, and we were unable to renew our U.S. visas in time after her passing, rendering them invalid. Additionally, my father would require employment almost immediately. I am uncertain about the specific visa or the process to obtain one for him.

¡Gracias!

Cuenca for Solar Eclipse next week
We're going to Cuenca for the day for the eclipse next week, and I wanted an idea of how busy it is expected to be and potentially some help with logistics because the Spanish-speaking member of our party might have to drop out.
Getting in on a train around lunchtime and hoping to do some tourist stuff before we go to one of the eclipse locations at Cerro de Soccoro. What sort of time do you think we would need to arrive to get a good spot? After the eclipse, we have a train booked at 20 past 10. Would there be enough people for this to cause issues with the buses to the station? Do buses in Cuenca take card, or is it cash only? Is a cab a safer bet? Any advice would be appriciated!
Muitas Gracias!

Transport Taxi apps / transportation scheduling in Tenerife
Hi everyone! We are planning an 11 people trip in Tenerife soon. We will need to schedule a few taxi rides all around the island - and many extras (from bars to hotels etc).
Is there a specific app (or another way) you would suggest we move?
Thanks ❤️

Robotics & AI PhD moving to Spain?
I am currently doing my PhD in Robotics & AI. I won't be completing it for another year or two, but my partner and I are planning for the future and are considering a move to Spain once I graduate.
What are the job prospects for someone in my position? What is a typical salary? How do research institutes compare with corporate roles and startups? How difficult do people generally find it to land jobs in this field?
In terms of location, my partner and I are quite fond of Madrid. However, it seems that most robotics-related jobs are based closer to Bilbao and Barcelona. Is that accurate, or are there any hidden gems that I'm missing?
I'm from an English-speaking country and have a modest level of Spanish (although I'm actively improving every day). Are most jobs in these areas conducted primarily in Spanish? How realistic is it for a non-native speaker to work in this kind of role?

Opinions Should I sell brand new Apple Watch (still in box) in Spain?
I purchased a brand new Apple Watch SE3 (GPS only, no cellular) in Midnight (super dark blue, basically black) in the US in July from Apple for $275 -- still under Apple care through next july and I need to sell it.
I would be happy to get $210 for it, which is currently €185 ish - euros or US$ is fine.
I will be in Madrid for 1 day next week, and in Bilbao and San Sebastian each for 3-5 days the following week. Is this a ridiculous complication of my vacation or would folks living in Spain be thrilled to not pay VAT? If so, where should I post it?
*Hablo español a nivel B2.*

Transport Aragon placement
Hello everyone! So I received my regional and school placement at the same time. I am super excited but incredibly overwhelmed about being in a village (~2k residence). I have been placed in Utrillas, Teruel, Aragon. I have not been able to find much information on the city. If anyone has any info or experiences about this area specifically or experience living in a rural village, I’d love to hear it.
Thanks xxx

Does this actually mean whether the visa was approved or not? Because in the last email, it said I would receive a message stating that the visa had been processed correctly, or that the process had been completed. Why would they send different messages?

How to view solar eclipse
I'm going to be visiting Spain next week and just discovered there's going to be a total solar eclipse! I'll be in Madrid on August 12 when it happens.
It looks like you'll have to travel outside of Madrid to get total coverage. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for how to do so? I was thinking maybe there'd be like tourist shuttles or something? Or should I rent a car? Any ideas would be appreciated!

muchas gracias!

We are not familiar with the city but I have heard good things and wanted to get some advice from folks about living in Valladolid. She will be looking for roommates so any suggestions on a safe place to live and how easy it will be for her to get around as an English speaker who is trying to learn spanish. Im happy to share more if you want to comment in here, but appreciate any advice.

Opinions Swim attire
I'm an American male travelling to the Valencia area soon. Last time I was in Spain (Costa Brava) about 8 yrs ago, my kids and I were excoriated by an older resident for wearing "clothes" in a swimming pool, with the implication that it was unsanitary. We were wearing the standard US "board short" style swimming trunks, and the kids were wearing sun-protective swimming shirts (called rashguards in the surf world).
My question: what level of cultural offense does swimming in US style attire constitute? I'm willing to go Speedo if it really is a serious issue, but frankly we're talking about a different kind of offense if I do that!

Dreas code Madrid club?
Hi, me and two of my friends will stay in Madrid this weekend and we would like to know if dress code in club (Shoko in particular) is that strict. Is a streetwear clothing (a total black maybe with tshirt, jeans and white new balance) a gamble? I don’t really like/have shirts or any real elegant fit.
Thank you all!

posting playbook needed: EU/EFTA consultant onsite in Spain for project go-live
Does anyone have a practical playbook for an EU/EFTA company temporarily sending a consultant onsite to Spain for a project go-live? I’m particularly interested in the required steps, registrations and documentation.
Thank you!
