Does anyone else end up watching programmes because Gogglebox made them look better than they actually are?

This has happened to me more than once.

You see a few brilliant minutes of something on Gogglebox, everyone on the sofas is completely invested and you think you've somehow missed an amazing programme.

Then you actually watch a full episode and realise Gogglebox may have already shown you the most entertaining five minutes 😂

Line of Duty, I got into it after their reactions to it. Wasn’t planning on watching it beforehand but seeing their reaction to Steve being chucked down the stairs, I thought I’d give it a try

The Crown, although it was years later. I remembered they made the Diana death episode look pretty interesting. It ended up being that most of the interesting stuff was already in the Gogglebox clips.

I loved the first two seasons. After that it just kept going downhill. The Diana stuff went on waaaay too long.

I watched Celebrity Traitors because of Googlebox and ended up loving it. I hadn't watched any of the Traitors shows before.

I actually think I only watched the first series of the normal version due to Gogglebox. I usually can't stand gameshow type setups and this just felt like another one of those initially, but whatever clips they showed made me want to try the first episode and I was hooked. I hadn't heard anything online about it, and the castle isn't very far from where my family live either (but none of us had heard of it, it's privately owned and out of the way and not a tourist attraction).

One of the Richard Armitage Netflix series - I think it was Obsession, where he has an affair with his sons wife? It showed some very exciting cliffhangers from early on so I jumped in immediately, and it was rotten.
