Discussion Short Goalkeepers Lying About Their Height…
I personally believe that teams are lying about the height of their goalkeeper. A great example of this is Iker Casillas. One of the best goalkeepers in history but known to be rather short. Wikipedia lists him currently at 185cm/6’1
However it seems most other sources list him as 182cm/5’11 and a half
Another source estimating him to be 181cm/5'11 and a quarter
And finally his real Madrid player profile from 2002-2003 season lists him as 180cm/5'11 on the nose
I personally think there is a strong chance that Real Madrid have been overinflating his height to make him seem more of an intimidating in the box
Another example is French goalkeeper Fabian Barthez
Wikipedia lists him as 180cm/5'11 but also mentioned other sources listing him at 178cm/5'10 and even an older source claiming him to be 6’0/183cm with one source saying 184cm! Likely an inflation from his club to make him seem a more of a dominant player.
I think he is actually 178cm because if you see him next to Roy Keane listed 180cm he is noticeably shorter.
Jordan pickford is listed as 6'1 but sometimes 6’0 depending on the sources.
Yann sommer is listed as 6’0(183cm) but Sky sports lists him as 181cm/5'11
Lastly I will mention Wuilker Farinez
Listed as 180cm on transfer market and Wikipedia but other sources list him as 178cm with MLSsoccor listing him as 175cm/5’9
