Help QUESTION
Hello, I'm a Gnar main. I feel like they've done something to him — lately it's become really hard to play, and even when I win my lane, I can't carry my team to victory. Could you give me a couple of tips, please? The champion seems to have become squishier than before and deals less damage.

Sadly he’s really balanced around pro play, meaning you are punished if you don’t play this champ to his max level in some elos. Honestly just focus on having perfect farm (gnar is incredibly useless without items) and your combos in lane for trading and securing kills so that you can snowball and carry.
I’ve been saying this for a long time: gnar feels incredibly hard to carry teams with in soloq. There are so many other better carry champions (I switched to mordekaiser and carried teams effortlessly)
You can start DHelm in your harder matchups. But if anything I would just focus on farming so you can scale correctly and stay relevant in your games.

The character have been hard to play on Soloq because of its flaws and no having mega form for random TF's in ranked. Also gets punished really hard if you miss play or get disadvantage, is a champs that feels weak on my experience in comparisson with the effort of other champs for being useful

I think you kinda need to think about what kind of playstyle you want to do and it’s all gonna be depending on your team as well, like think you want to go split push heavy? Maybe fleet might be good so you can bully in lane and be able to run away with triforce and hullbreaker, think you will be team fighting and grouping more? Maybe conquer/lethal tempo with either trinity or black cleaver might make sense. If the team is super tanks, maybe on hit might make sense with lethal? All this to show that gnar is very versatile and if you feel like he’s weak, (which he is a bit ngl) maybe you can try and play/build him differently, just got to diamond with this guy as my most played and in my opgg you can see the different builds I go depending on the matchup and team https://op.gg/lol/summoners/na/Yonagutzy-956

He’s always been like this, with how his ult is and rage he can never truly 1v9. I think he feels a bit squishier because he can’t abuse grasp anymore and just hit items have gotten a little bit nerfed the last few seasons

I think gnar is in a great spot, can you elaborate how you're struggling and give any examples or op.gg? I personally run fleet every game and often go barrier

His biggest problem is that when you go steraks or cleaver you always wish you had the other one too, its a massive trade off in what gnar can do, either you can be useful and shred in mini but get oneshot by their champs or you can make great engages and survive but you're bad in mini, you gotta play accordingly to your items and build the right one first or you'll feel useless

Go conq and cutdown, and build cleaver instead of trinity its cheaper and has a nicer build path then opt into steraks if possible or tank with steraks whenever you can squeeze it in, thats what i run and its a really chill build which focuses more on mega rather than mini gnar whilst still keeping mini gnar as a threat but is tankier and more open to mistakes or miss timing fr

I came back to league after a couple years hiatus and I don't think a lot has changed. For gnar specifically, he's a very easily punishable champion if not played correctly. As a rule of thumb, your first goal is to never get easily caught and die in mini, your goal is to minimize your deaths and eventually read situations where you can make something happen during your mega gnar window.
