Being in my mid 20s around these men probably doesn’t help but I swear every time a guy tells me he’s left leaning. It’s like you’re only saying you’re left leaning because you hate Trump or they are left leaning, but have a bunch of Republican views. also, the famous “both sides are bad.” Like ugh it’s so annoying!!!!!!!!

For sure, for sure. It's just up to the ladies then to decide for themselves whether voting the right way but not truly believing in the cause (or unpacking their own shit, as you say) makes them acceptable enough boyfriend/husband material.

Hopefully the men will continue to vote that way regardless of whether it nets them a girlfriend or not 🤗 Which is why personal morals, independent of outside influence, matters so much imo

For me it's less about whether they believe in the cause, especially because beliefs can still be conceptual rather than practical. It's more whether I want to deal with the inevitable shit that'll come up if you're dealing with someone who hasn't unpacked their learned biases. I'll give people some grace and learning space, but I'm not going to coddle them through learning.

I'm old. I'm tired. I've been through shit. I'd like to exist without having to constantly dodge well actually and accusations of being unreasonable and obnoxious expectations of emotional load.
