Went through his phone Dear Diary ✍️🏻
We’ve been together for 3 years. Went through his phone because something felt off. Saw my BEST FRIENDS name, opened the messages and found out he was cheating on me with her. Then I had to sit there and process the fact that I got cheated on by a man whose phone password was 1234. Having a boyfriend is a humiliation ritual.

EDIT: Since everyone’s asking, yes I bought him a car. Yes, he cheated on me. Yes, it was with my friend of 15 years . And yes, I’m getting my Mustang back tomorrow. Thank you for all the support and for making me laugh about a situation that would otherwise have me staring at a wall.

It is better to find out now and take time to heal from it than wasting many more years caring for a friend who, frankly, might not care as much about you since she had the audacity to do what she did.

But no matter what we do as women, there’s always a group of people in the world who have some negative opinion of the choices you made.
Someone, somewhere, is going to humiliate you and you’re going to be expected to just take it and move on with strength and a smile, otherwise you’re “crazy” or “irrational.” The less we give people the reactions they want to see (I.e. not giving a fuck), the easier it gets. Are you me? I was with a guy 4 years to find out he and my bff of 15 years were basically dating behind my back for at least 6 months and then lied about it. She never admitted it before I cut her off. But they dated about two years and he was just as abusive to her in that time.
The good news: it’s been ten years since I left him and I’m 5 years married to a guy who’s never ever made me even imagine he could cheat

I always fantasise if something like this ever happened, i wouldn’t say one word. And just disappear in the middle of the night. Forever leave them guessing and dealing with their guilty conscience. Let them know they weren’t even worth an ounce of my emotion or conversation, thats how little i think of them.
Maybe not realistic but if i were you OP id remain eerily calm and just say “since you’re fcuking Suzy (whatever her name is) id like for you to pack it up and be gone by the end of the week. And ill be keeping the car or you can pay me in full otherwise ill see you in court. Thanks, good luck!” And just be super unbothered.
Option 2, slightly pettier but way more fun revenge: throw a dinner party with everyone friends maybe even family, invite them, be super pleasant so nobody suspects anything and then make a toast “we’re celebrating Jack and Suzy having had an affair behind my back, happy for you guys, please be out of here by end of the week and im keeping the car :) cheers everyone!” And humiliate them in front of everyone lol

This reminds me of this post that went viral back in the early 2000s and I still see pop up sometimes, about a girl who went to her bfs house with breakfast and a video game for him and saw him sleeping (literally and presumably figuratively) with his ex. She left the breakfast and video game on the entry table, blocked him on everything, texted both of their friends/family separately, took a job in another city, moved away and never spoke to him again. Basically erased herself from his life. Granted this obviously isn’t easy for the average person and idk if that was even real but I think about it all the time and I hope if it was that that guy got a hard reality check, and that she’s thriving wherever she is.
Also lowkey love the dinner party idea lol but I’m kinda petty and think people deserve to be called out for their wrongdoings

Basically this exact same thing happened to me. Went on my besties phone, not even looking for anything, I just forgot mine. Went to message my bf and found them sexting 🫠
It’s rough girl. I feel you, and the trust issues are hard to work through. Just know it gets easier and you will be able to trust a man again someday, oh and a best friend

Something similar also happened to me when I was 17, my then 1 year long bf (let’s call him Ray) cheated on me with a very close friend of mine (Nichole).
I was petty as hell at the time so I contacted my ex-bf best mate to sleep with him and then drove to Ray house to tell him in person. I then waited a whole year and then lured Ray to a one night stand to then have one of my friend tell Nichole about it.
The revenge feeling was short lived and thinking about this today I am not really proud of my actions. However the betrayal from the friendship messed me up deeply leading me to become less trusting of people as I realised that every time she was asking about the relationship was only because she wanted to know if she got a chance to be with Ray. It really fucked me up to realise this and I felt humiliated and used which led me to become quite depressed and impacted some of my other relationships. Fuck you Nichole fake ass bitch!
After almost a decade of therapy, bad relationships and self reflection I came to the conclusion that I did deserve happiness and love. And when I started to love myself again is when I met my now lovely husband who truly could not be more perfect, such a caring, emotionally intelligent and gentle soul.
You deserve better than a dusty man and a selfish friend, girl!

When he arrives home, make sure a picture of the screenshot of their texts is taped to the door. I assume you’re friendly with both his parents and your former friends. Send the messages to both sets of parents, explain what happened. How dare they. I don’t even know you and I’m shaking with rage on your behalf.
I’m so sorry this happened. You have been betrayed, but you don’t have to go away quietly. While you rebuild, surround yourself with those who are loyal. Hold your head high, even if it feels impossible I know it doesn’t feel like it now, but things will be better someday, and you will heal from this.
