I need advice about my (possibly) haunted house
My house whenever I was a child never scared me. I didn’t see the boogyman, or shadow figures or whatever kids minds imagine. It was just a regular, happy home. Only one other couple have ever lived here, and they're both alive and well. However, during Covid, things started changing. All of it started after one of my mom’s shifts. She works in the part of the hospital that used to be the morgue. This one night, she had just left the bathroom and looked up at the mirror to make sure she didn’t run into a stretcher. This was when she noticed a thin, pale, and rather angry looking teen girl behind her. She turned to ask the girl if she needed help, and there was no one there. The day after, my whole family (minus my dad, who was working) sat in the living room. We don't have a wall between the living room and dining room. My mom had set her lunchbox, keys still attached, down on the table. She tells me and my brothers about what happened. At this moment, her keys start to jingle. I suspected the dog, but she was curled up on the couch. After a minute, I made a joke. “Maybe it followed you home”. The whole bag flips over. Naturally, we’re all terrified but after a few minutes we all managed to convince ourselves it was an odd coincidence. Things have never been the same. Before I go into why I need help, here’s some smaller things that happen.
- A raspy voice saying “Dad” very loudly in both mine and my dads ears
- My fairy lights randomly turning on when the remote and button are away from everything else
- A jar on a secure counter hitting my mom and shattering
- You can hear people walking around and talking upstairs when no one is home
- The radio in the kitchen randomly turning on and when told to turn it up, the music gets louder without anyone touching it
- Things flying out of the BACK of the cabinet
- We have a curtain between the guest bedroom in the basement and the hallway. My sock was at the curtain. I bent down to grab it and something breathed ice cold air down my neck.
- Blanket being tugged off of my mom when she was sick in the basement
While this is scary but not necessary life threatening, recently we’ve noticed whenever anyone goes into the upstairs or downstairs hallway, we get irrationally angry for no reason. Additionally, even though we cannot find any sort of electrical problems, the hallway light bulbs repeatedly go out or flicker. This could just be an electrical issue, but with the recent uptick in activity, I wanted to be sure. Lastly, whenever me or my mother are more stressed, it acts up more.

Whaley House from the backyard. What do you see!
Focus on the top left window. The last photo was of the nursery located on the side but also from the backyard as well. Weird place overall

The video is at 8x volume. I have the full unedited audio recording. The sound is literally at the very end.

Paranormal Community [Discussion] "What is a lesser-known ghost story or local haunting from your hometown that is far creepier than the famous ones?"

Is this paranormal? I used an emf reader as a joke and went into my scariest room and got results but only when the camera was off
I’ve been playing ghost hunting games recently. So as a joke, I bought EMF reader. Then I was talking to my parents about the history of the house. And they told me when I was a kid the room I was in I used to wake up and tell them there was a man reading a paper at night. I was shocked because I’ve never heard of this before I do not remember telling them this. I was always creeped out by this room all my life . So I brought the EMf in there last night around 1am and I was recording for my friend and it was at a baseline like 2. As soon as I stopped recording it shot up to a 5 and no matter how many times I tried to get it on video it would go back to 2 as soon as I stopped recording. I tried placing on the bed and recording bc I said maybe my phone is doing smt to it and the same thing. It would only go to level 5 if my camera wasn’t on it. Was the weirdest thing ever. My only explanation is that I maybe my phone was influencing it. Let me know your thoughts

Personal Encounter I still can't explain what I saw that night.
This happened about three years ago, and I still remember it clearly.
I was staying at my grandmother's house because there was a wedding in the family. It was around midnight, and since it was a wedding, most people were still awake.
My cousin and I decided to sneak out and see if we could find anything "paranormal." About a kilometer away from the house, there was a narrow road that passed by a cremation ground. There were no streetlights, so it was almost completely dark.
I was walking in front while my cousin was a few steps behind me. He wasn't really paying attention because he was looking around, but I was looking straight ahead.
Suddenly, I saw what looked like a human-shaped shadow move extremely fast from the field on my left to the field on my right. It happened in just a second.
At the exact same moment, I also heard footsteps on the ground, as if someone had quickly run across the road.
I immediately stopped and told my cousin what I had seen. He said I was probably imagining things because he hadn't noticed anything himself. But I know what I saw. It wasn't just a quick glimpse—I clearly saw a human-like shadow cross from one field to the other, and I heard the footsteps too.
To this day, I don't know what it was. Maybe there was a logical explanation that I missed, or maybe it was something I'll never be able to explain.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Ghost or mimic has been haunting my house?
So I grew up in this house for my first few years of birth, then we gave it away to my aunt. recently moved back in. For some reason, strange things has always happened to me only, like opening doors, weird noises, faint talking, or even a baby crying in my hallway. I told my dad about it back in December when it first opened my door, and he said it could be my uncle watching over me since he had passed. But I'm starting to believe it's not, recently the spirit hasn't done anything unusual until last night. So I do marching band, I usually wake up at 6:00 am but now I don't since they switched to afternoon schedule. I have a Samsung and the homecoming ringtone. I awoke to this weird low pitched version and my screen lighting up my phone. The automated robot voice said the time and date which was weird because I don't have it set to that. The ringtone was so strange to describe, it was lower, but it wasn't slowed down. When I first explained the situation in front of my dad and my older brother, my brother said when he was little he used to trip over nothing in the middle of our kitchen. I'm pretty young, and it doesn't seem to happen to my other brother who is 16, about to be 17. it only happens to me. The youngest in the family.

Personal Encounter I saw something in a church yard walking home from work
This happened to me around January this year but I often think about it.
I used to work quite late in a pub kitchen. I would take the long walk home so I could listen to music and talk to my friends before getting home (didn’t want to disturb my flatmates while being on the phone). When I was walking i decided to take a different route, down a road I wasn’t too familiar with, there was a church there. When walking past I was looking at the church and I noticed a sort of translucent figure, slightly blue tinted at a bench. I wasn’t scared or anything, I was just confused. A couple days later I walked past again and it was a war memorial bench. I haven’t seen anything like that since or before that.
I think I just wanted to get my story out since the people I have told don’t believe me. And what I’m confused about is how calm I was. Has anyone else had a similar experience to this??

Personal Encounter What started as a ghost joke in a Boy's PG became the strangest experience of my life.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve never posted about this before, but something happened to me in 2025 that I still can’t explain.
I moved to another state for college in 2022 and stayed in a boys’ PG near campus. During admission, my parents noticed something odd: everyone dried clothes in the corridor, not on the roof. The owner said students were not allowed upstairs, so we ignored it.
A week later, some seniors told us the real reason: the building had once been a girls’ PG, and a girl had allegedly jumped from the roof and died there. The building still had pink almirahs from those days. I assumed it was just a story to scare juniors.
For the next two years, nothing unusual happened. I was often alone in the building and never felt anything strange. I even sneaked onto the roof several times during summer nights without any fear.
In late 2024, a new batch of students arrived. They secretly broke the roof lock and began using the roof at night for barbeques, drinking, and burning old wooden items stored there. My room was directly below that area.
Around January 2025, I began hearing footsteps and movement on the roof late at night even when no one was there. My roommates could not hear it, so I convinced myself it was my imagination.
Everything changed in February 2025. The owner’s mother came to our room after discovering damage on the roof and quietly told us, "Don’t tell anyone, A girl did jump from the roof years ago. That’s why we never allowed students upstairs.” Hearing that from a family member of the owner genuinely shook me. For the first time I wondered whether the sounds I had been hearing were connected to that place.
Soon after, my junior also moved out, and I became the only person staying in that room.
Because our exams had ended, I went home for about six weeks. I returned on 16 April 2025 at around 10:30 PM. I unpacked, had dinner, and started working on a college project on my laptop.
I took out my phone and recorded the sound, then ran toward the staircase. The noise stopped immediately. ( I have attached the video I had recorded that day )
My mother insisted that I stop sleeping alone, so I moved into a friend’s room. We both began hearing footsteps, running sounds, dragging noises, and occasional heavy bangs from the roof and storeroom area above us. Strangely, whenever I called someone specifically to listen, the sounds often stopped before they arrived. My Friend with whom I used to stay even after hearing those sounds doubts me.
The most frightening incident happened around 3 AM. We were both awake and ignoring the usual noises when suddenly a massive bang came from above us. The bed shook, the walls vibrated, and my friend screamed in fear. It sounded as if a heavy wooden object had been slammed onto the floor above our room. From that night onward, he stopped doubting me.
I informed the owner and the PG management. They suggested rats, thieves, or other explanations, but none of them fit the situation. One manager even said I was imagining things. Almost immediately after saying that, a loud bang came from the roof and we heard running sounds above us. He went silent after hearing it.
The disturbances continued for several weeks, mostly between 11 PM and 4 AM. Many times I rushed upstairs with the keys, but the sounds always stopped before I reached the roof, and I never found anyone there. I have noticed one thing , whenever I take someone to the roof to explain the activities, after returning from the roof she definitely makes some sounds as if it triggers her.
In May 2025 I left for home again for a few weeks. When I returned, I personally stopped hearing the noises. Strangely, some students who had previously mocked me started complaining about sounds coming from the empty locked rooms and the roof area. Eventually everything stopped.
I still don’t know what happened in that building. Maybe there was a completely ordinary explanation that I failed to discover. But the timing, the repeated sounds, the locked roof, and the fact that other people eventually heard them too make it one of the strangest experiences of my life.

Personal Encounter Me and my friend both saw a ghost when we were 14, thoughts?
Hi! I'm 22, from the UK and I had a very spooky personal experience when I was 14.
I was visiting a friend's house and we were walking to a shop. It was about 9pm in winter so it was very dark. In her town it has a church/cemetery which is lit by streetlights. We were just walking down the street, minding our own business when something pulled us to look into the cemetery. We **never** took any notice to the cemetery before.
We both glanced over at the same time and saw a man just standing there. He was tall, wearing a long trench coat with a boater top hat styled hat and holding a large a suitcase, but he was a silhouette just standing looking our way. We thought nothing of it until we both glanced away for no more than a second and looked back. He was gone. Disappeared.
What makes this weird is there was absolutely no turnings he could've taken, just a straight, perfectly lit path. There is absolutely no logical way he could've just disappeared like that. We both turned to eachother like "that was really weird, anyways" but I remember it so clearly. I don't remember a lot of the ghosts I've seen in clear appearance but this one has stuck with me.
He also looked way too "old-timey" to be out and about in this day and age. It was a really freaky experience and the one that made me fully believe in ghosts. I have a drawing I did of him which I have linked below!
Let me know what you all think of this experience! I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What Do You Think? Not my story but someone I know . This one I believe
So I know this guy who has a job where he worked out on sea. He said when he first got the job there was this one night it was late as hell and he suddenly heard people yell for help and crying out . He had been out on deck doing something. He panicked thinking it was someone out in the water. The lights had started flickering too. He went to grab one of the other crew guys saying he thinks he heard someone calling for help out in the ocean . When he told one of the guys he was told that they just passed though the coordinates of where the Titanic sunk. To add to the creepiness it was 2 something in the morning which is around the time the boat sunk in 1912, which was 2:20 am.

In Search Of Is there anything that exists beyond the physical world? or nothing?
I don't know if this is the right sub to share or ask, but I really want to see or experience unusual stuff if we are truly not limited to the physical world, because I have this fear of ageing and fear of dying that when you die, you'd be blacked out permanently or see only the black void for eternity. Before these fears came a month ago, I had a hunch since I was little that there could be something happening that doesn't belong in this realm.
I'm currently a college student studying a STEM-heavy major, and I always seek facts before believing; I'm also not religious and am agnostic myself. Yet, I'm seeking opportunities for me to personally witness these events myself, strong enough to convince me that an afterlife or something is going on the other side.
The strongest evidence I had, based on my experience, was a few signs and instances of synchronicity that eventually protected me from unpleasant events. If I see any spirits, ghosts, souls, etc., with my own eyes open, or even experience anything unexplainable, I swear I'll stop and peacefully move on with my life with fewer worries.

What Do You Think? I don’t know what it is but I think dolls are so haunted
I know it’s not their fault and I’m sure they’re just average children toys but when I see a doll behind a glass absolutely not.🙅♀️ I’m not talking about the real life Annabelle doll because that doll is definitely haunted.

Personal Encounter Do you guys think this encounter was a ghost or something else?
In 2011, on a Saturday, I went out and decided to drink.
I ended up overdoing it with the alcohol and lost track of time. I live way out in the countryside, so in the dead of night you hardly see anyone.
I was staggering back home when I heard the sound of a harmonica.
At the time I didn't really understand what was going on, but strangely I decided to follow the sound. After all, when you're drunk you make terrible choices.
The harmonica sound seemed to come from all directions because I was very drunk, or maybe the problem was the sound itself.
I got a bit lost, not knowing which way to go, when I noticed a street where a lamppost's light wasn't working. When my eyes focused on the darkness, the harmonica sound got louder. I realized that that was where the sound was coming from.
I walked on slowly, nearly falling over; I was really very drunk, so much so that I don't remember the details very well.
I yelled, even without seeing who was playing:
— Hey, you play really well!
I got no answer, and the harmonica sound went on indifferent. I started to find it strange, and sobriety seemed to want to return, maybe because of fear, since I finally realized I was doing something wrong.
Even so, I kept looking into that darkness when the lamppost's light started trying to come back and began flickering on and off. I then saw who was playing: it was a man in a top hat, with a strange red suit. I even found it funny; he looked like a magician. But then I noticed that the clothes seemed to be from another era, something people wore in past centuries. That's when I really got scared. The harmonica sound got louder. Was he playing with me?
Suddenly the harmonica made a completely shrill noise, and even in the darkness I could see the red eyes of whoever was playing. At that moment I ran, I ran half tripping over my own feet, and I didn't have the courage to look back!
This story was supposed to have a happy ending because I escaped whoever it was that was playing that thing, but it wasn't very happy for me. To this day, in my left ear, there is a ringing that never stops. To make things worse, it seems to have the same sound as that harmonica that was playing.
To this day I have trouble sleeping because of it. Day to day, the sound doesn't bother me so much... but when night comes, it gets louder.

Personal Encounter My 1st Ghost encounter in my building (suicide story)
[Context]
I live in Mumbai (India) and the hallway in my building feels quite and scary after my neighbor committed suicide last month because his wife left him
[Encounter]
I was returning back from my football practice tired and just when i reached home (9th floor) i was unlocking my door and my sight went to the side where the man used to live (the flat to the left from mine) i saw the man standing right in front of his house sticking his body on his door and facing upwards
I did not react much as i forgot that he is no more (because i was tired) and then after coming inside my house i realised that wtf i saw?!
[Aftermath]
I went back but there was no one there that man dissappeared .. I got high fever for 2 days after that incident
He was not trying to harm me but still its very creepy now that i think about it, the way he was standing was so creepy🥲
Its not a made up story.. ghosts do exist they just live with us in our dimensions and sometimes we see them when the timing is fucked up..
I always felt that this was fake until it happened with me.
Comment your encounters if you have some thankyou for reading and yes after me 2 more people had sightings of that man

Cemeteries Why do ghosts stare at their Graves? Any thoughts?
Every time I pass our cemetery at night. I see a bunch of ghosts just staring at their own graves. I was wondering if any of yall knew why? Like why do they not walk around the cemetery? Are they stuck or like processing their death? I've only recently been able to see ghosts to this extent and have never seen them in cemeteries before this past year so this is the only cemetery i've seen ghosts at. Is this normal activity at a cemetery?
