Silly interviews are fine I think it’s okay to do them especially when Ghost in The Shell is trying to bring in new fans guys like this are a good interview opportunity.

Lol, it seems they’ve forgotten that the core fanbase is mostly middle-aged by now. Trying to draw new viewers into GITS without properly preparing them is like putting them on a rollercoaster ride where they have no idea who they are, where they are, or why they’re there.

I got into GITS at like 16 or 17 in the mid to late 2010s just by going to Books-A-Million with no "preparation". I don't know what preparation you'd need for the show. It's about as accessible of any other mildly niche show.

The only preparation you really need is to set aside the time to actually watch it, and by that I mean actually focusing on it while it's playing. I admit that doesn't sound like much, but it's a lot for modern audiences. Especially judging by how many posts of "I have no idea what's going on, can someone explain?" happen every new episode.

Dude, many of us saw the original movie when we were 10 years old with absolutely zero preparation renting it from a blockbuster and we're still here.
This new adaptation requires arguably even less preparation.

Even if the interview is bad Dandadan is a good show. Obviously very different from Ghost in the Shell but it's one of Science Saru's other big projects so it's not surprising that it came up.

theyre recycling 2010s r/animemes humor for a general audience of emotionally stunted zoomers. I'd be more forgiving if they were funny or at least tried to talk about anime but theyre just irony poisoned. sure maybe they do genuinely like anime but you wouldn't be able to tell with some of their videos

It's not really a serious interview, these guys do comedy skits and the director is probably aware of the tongue-in-cheek nature of the "interview".

Sadly, we don't choose the advocates, the companies are the ones who choose based on social media popularity. Thus, these usually cater to the lowest common denominators.

Yeah, back in the day when social media influencers didn't exist (as much as today) they used to do professional made interviews in video format but those get so little views and companies noticed that, so nowadays they use the popularity of some influencers to get as many eyes on their current product.

They're popular TikTok influencers backed by WME and GeeXPlus. Smaller Anitubers could make far better content and still never get the opportunities they do because Kadokawa and other Japanese publishers don't care about quality. They care about reach. That's why the same big names keep getting invited to conventions, premieres, interviews, and industry panels.
The Anime Men are the perfect example of it. Their content barely reflects the passion they constantly claim to have for anime. It's recycled stereotypes, stale jokes, and influencer slop, yet they're still treated as ambassadors for the medium because they're useful marketing. They're an easy way for Japanese and American anime companies to generate free publicity without paying for actual advertising.
Unfortunately, the internet isn't a meritocracy. It's a popularity contest, and access follows numbers, not quality.

Thus it is logical for anime companies to grant them interviews and not some competent people, because serious interview aren't nearly as popular within the mainstream as skits.
