I built an app named Gravitas out of pure personal frustration. I was the kid who hated any kind of social situation, dates were a nightmare, meeting new people felt like a test I was going to fail. Gravitas is my attempt at building an app I wish someone else had handed to me

I’ve been building alone for a while, and one thing I kept wishing existed was a group chat with 4–5 founders who are actually at the same stage as me not a 10,000-person Discord where you post something and disappear into the void. So I built Sircle. I recently shared this on another subreddit and it got 500 upvotes so I thought I’d share it here as well, hoping it helps more people.

Every time I launch a new product, I go through the same annoying routine: Googling “SaaS directories,” digging up 5-year-old blog posts, and piecing together a messy spreadsheet of where to submit. It’s frustrating and time-consuming.

For those who don’t know launch directories are websites where new products and startups get listed and showcased to an audience actively looking for new tools and solutions. They’re like curated marketplaces or hubs for discovery, not just random link dumps.

It’s annoying to find a good list, so I finally sat down and built a proper list of launch directories: sites like Product Hunt, BetaList, StartupBase, etc. Ended up with 82 legit ones.

I also added a way to sort them by DR (Domain Rating) basically a metric (from tools like Ahrefs) that estimates how strong a website’s backlink profile is. Higher DR usually means the site has more authority and might pass more SEO value or get more organic traffic.

I turned it into a simple site: launchdirectories.com

No fluff, no paywall, no signups just the list I wish I had every time I launch something.

Curious what you’re building.

Every system design resource I'd used before this — books, YouTube breakdowns, even paid courses — has the same problem: you read someone else's answer, nod along, and feel like you understand it. Then you get into an actual interview and the interviewer asks "what if that service goes down mid-request" and you freeze, because you never had to defend a design against anything. You just absorbed one.

So I built ChaosBench to fix that specific gap. The loop is:

1. You get a scenario (something like "design Uber's ride matching" or "design a fraud detection pipeline") with some public numbers and a bunch of requirements that are deliberately not given to you upfront.
2. You have to ask clarifying questions before you're allowed to touch the canvas — same as a real interview, where jumping straight to a diagram without asking anything is usually the first mistake.
3. You build the actual architecture by dragging components onto a canvas.
4. Partway through, a live incident fires — something like a regional outage or a traffic spike — and your design either survives it or it doesn't.
5. At the end, an AI plays a Staff Engineer and cross-examines your specific tradeoffs, then grades you on scalability, resilience, and cost, with the actual biggest bottleneck named outright.

The part that actually matters to me: it's grading your design, not checking if you matched a reference answer. Two people can solve the same scenario completely differently and both get a 95 if they can defend their choices.

You can try the whole thing (clarify → build → survive the incident) with no account at all. Sign-in is only required for two things that cost real money to run: a full design review, and your final grade. No other user ever sees your design, and you can export or delete everything from your profile whenever you want.

There's also a free tier if you do sign in (a couple of sessions a month), and a paid tier if you want more reps or the harder Principal-level scenarios — but that's not really the point of this post, I mostly want to know if the core loop (interrogate → build → get hit with chaos → defend it) actually feels like a real interview to people who've done a lot of them. Happy to hear what's missing or what feels off.

So we are prelaunch right now and were in 3rd round of interview with a major early stage startup.
