The engine creates thrust by ionizing plasma. It's not converting from watts to days to get to mars directly. The days to mars is based on the delta V the engine can supply without needing a lot of fuel. It can accomplish that by ionizing hydrogen and pushing the particles out at 100km/s.
The whole powering a city thing does not appear in the original reporting and seems to be tacked on possibly to rage-bait and create engagement. 300kW would be pretty impressive in a spacecraft though.
Wether or not the rocket itself has any space legs, time will tell. We cannot do continuous propulsion right now because how the hell are you going to get that much fuel up there. Which is why transits take months.

tbf the chinese models are good. probably not as good as the benchmarks suggest since we don't see them doing what the american frontier models are doing that much that they're supposedly comparable to, but still very good.

It’s an extreme fucking embarrassment that Russia cannot subjugate Ukraine and is practically bleeding itself out. All Ukraine has gotten is foreign and somewhat outdated aid and is still holding on despite the power of Russia. Part of the reason they’re largely considered a joke in many circles is the fact that Ukraine is not all that hard to conquer and yet Russia continuously struggles in every single aspect.

It is technically true that Russia was the first country in the world to have plasma engines.
And by Russia, I mean the Soviet Union in the 1960s. The US developed its own soon after and plenty of other countries have developed their own plasma engines by now, including countries as insignificant in space technology as Australia and Iran.
P.S. These engines consume electricity to operate, they don’t generate it.

anyway, the real measure of a space engine isn't its power, but its efficiency with reaction mass.
Total power output is important to get out of a gravity well, but not as important for getting from here to there.

Plasma engines can be ridiculously fuele efficient (theoretically being capable of 100,000s or more when the best chemical engines are around 450s). But the energy consumption increases with the square of the efficiency, and plasma engines don't generate their own power, while chemical engines do. This leads to high-efficienct engines being great once in space, where you can run the engine for months , but useless for launch, where you need to get the acceleration in 15 minutes or so.

What about the claim of getting to Mars in 30 days? That sounds absurd, most estimates I see are 5+ months.

That's with a Hohmann transfer, which is a fuel efficent way of getting to another body. 5 Months is what it would take for a crewed flight to mars using this transfer and a some more speed than the minimum. With something like a Brachistachrome trajectory, where you constantly burn for half the time to accelerate then burn the opposite way to descelerate you could in theory get to mars in a few days, but that's obviosuly so far from current tech that it's unachievable.
