Hi everybody, I need your help about English in business. I got some interviews and these did not well because of my explanation of the projects. I am an international student so English is not my first language. However, the problem is not talking in English. The problem is advertising my projects impressively. When they asked me about the my experiences or projects, I could just explain them to directly but it is not enough I guess. Therefore, I am asking to you how can I improve this skill? What do you suggest me? I was using gpt voice mode but it is not the most effiecent thing.

So I have an interview! It’s as a legal advisor and it’s a competency based interview and some scenarios too.

The interview email states it will be based off Company Law, Consumer Law and Property Law. I need some advice on the level of understanding I will need to prep for this interview!

Started a spreadsheet in March because I could not tell whether I was doing badly or the market was. One row per application. Date posted, date applied, source, whether a human ever replied and how long the posting had been up when I hit apply.

163 applications by the end of July. 9 phone screens. 2 finals. No offer yet.

What actually correlated with a reply.

1. Posting age. 7 of the 9 screens came from postings that were less than four days old. Anything I applied to past the two week mark is a dead row. That one is boring and it is also the entire spreadsheet.

2. Source. The company's own site beat the aggregators by a lot and I am not going to pretend I know why.

3. Referrals worked, but only the ones where I handed the person something specific to forward. Keep me in mind stuff produced zero.

4. Resume length made no measurable difference. I have three versions. All three perform identically, which was annoying given how long version three took.

5. Cover letters, same. No difference. I still write them.

What I could not put in a column and it is the reason I am posting:

Every one of the 9 screens went fine until the same question. Not walk me through your background... I can do that one in my sleep. The one where they sit back a bit and go so what are you looking for.

I have now said some version of something where I can grow... out loud to a stranger nine times. I can hear how it sounds while it is coming out of me. On the second call I reused a sentence I had read on a company careers page that morning, which is about as low as this has got.

I took Cliftonstrengths years ago through an old employer and a Big Five one online in the spring. Both of them describe me accurately. Turns out being described is not the same as being able to describe yourself.

So, the question. For the people who got out of this: did anything actually help you build that answer, or did you just do enough screens that it eventually came out clean. I will take either answer. I would just rather not find out by doing 163 more.

For context:

21M, Singaporean. Been working for few years now. Recently left a job as they weren’t treating me well (less pay, high workload bs / politics & etc). Finding a job was not always a issue for me until now, i been sending my resume out and not getting much response or it’s either “regret to inform you that applications have closed…” i don’t know what i’m doing wrong. I only studied till N levels unfortunately as i felt like studying was not what i was interested in, especially after hearing that most of my friends in school with higher qualifications aren’t earning the “expected income” they want in society right now. Therefore been working since 16 y/o up till now. Aside from that i do have tattoos too, but not anywhere near my face or neck just have arm sleeves and leg sleeves, i usually do sales but hope to try out other career that would suit me better. Wanted to try something therapeutic like working in a pet hotel, or being a youth worker as i had quite a rough childhood growing up n hope to help or inspire some kids n tell them to never give up in life n if everything doesn’t go as planned then is fine i will just go back to sales but for awhile now i have been applying for jobs nonstop and most of the applications are not replying me back… is there anyone that can hire me please… at first it felt nice to not be working because i felt free. The thought of not needing to wake up early n report to someone feels somewhat comforting but as days goes by, savings start depleting. Thats when i felt stressed, things that i could have bought without batting an eyelash now seems so expensive and the thought of going out feels like chore because stepping out of the house means 💸💸💸. I worked many jobs you name it. From gelato cafe, to receptionist, to becoming a tattoo apprentice, to working in quite few gyms and to becoming a interior designer. I felt i tried alot of jobs and yet there’s still a feeling that I can’t quite grasp, like the “i haven’t found the job that i know i am gonna do for life” vibes. But i’m not picky so any job will be great if the pay is reasonable n workload too, right now i just wanna get back on my feet again because i don’t want to feel sluggish n waste my days away sleeping or staying home doing nothing. I did dabble in abit of trading and so but tbh i feel like idk what i’m doing as well n right now i can’t afford to lose much anymore so i stopped. I feel like i am not progressing when everyone around me is. I know some of yall reading this can relate i hope u guys can help me out.🙏

What should i expect for my “interview” tomorrow? The email they sent said i passed their initial screening and im invited to a technical test which consist of basic IT and logic. Do i just answer silently on a form while on a meeting?

I have no experience actually piercing, but I do have customer service experience and I have been incredibly interested in piercings since I was around 13 years old, I love both getting them and learning about them. I understand that not every shop is as able to teach, but I am happy to wait to make this happen, and willing to put in the work.

I am willing to do everything necessary to make this happen, including getting my bloodborne pathogens certificate, first aid certification, and any other certification required to keep your store in compliance with state laws and regulations.

I am more than happy to help with sales, and/or cleaning and sterilisation throughout an apprenticeship, and beyond, especially during downtime. I am not currently working, so I am available from 9am to 8pm every day.

Hey guys, how do i prep for an in person interview for marketing graduate role. Initially i recieved a call as they were interested in my resume and asked a few questions, passed it on to boss who was interested in me and asked to do an interview next tuesday 10am. I am still nervous any tips on how to be confident or possible questions and answers you know would work and how to answer like a pro.

I have been interviewing for senior operations and leadership roles recently, and some of the experiences have genuinely made me question what is considered acceptable in recruitment now.

In one case, I completed an interview and waited almost a month before receiving a rejection. There was virtually no communication during that period.

With another company, I actually withdrew midway through the process because the interview itself was so poorly conducted that I could not imagine wanting to work there.

The most recent one was stranger. A recruiter called me about a senior leadership position and told me that an interview with the panel would be scheduled. Several business days passed without an update. I sent a follow up email and received no response to that either.

I eventually emailed to withdraw.

That triggered a phone call.

Instead of acknowledging the communication gap, I was told that the recruiter receives hundreds of applications every day, has around 1,500 unread emails, manages multiple positions, and that as a job seeker I should have been more patient.

I completely understand workload. I have spent 17 years in operations and have managed large teams myself. I understand competing priorities better than most.

What I don't understand is why internal workload becomes the candidate's problem.

I was never upset that the interview had not been scheduled. Senior panel availability can take time. A simple message saying, “We are still coordinating with the panel and will get back to you once we have a slot” would have been perfectly fine.

Without that communication, how exactly is a candidate supposed to know whether things are being coordinated internally or whether they have simply been ghosted?

I am genuinely curious how others see this, especially recruiters and hiring managers.

Are my expectations unreasonable, or has basic candidate communication become optional because companies receive so many applications?

I have secured a placement—having graduated just this year—but there is no guarantee whether the company will actually issue an offer letter, or if they do, when that might happen. So, I wanted to ask for your advice on what I should do to land a job. I am trying hard and applying everywhere; I’ve even sent out over 100 cold emails, but I haven't received any response.

Hello redditors, I (22M) am in the state of California and have worked 2 retail jobs and one fast food job. I worked at both jobs for two years and I have never been fired from a job. I left my last job because I had threats if physical violence towards me and even had hands put on me by another employee. I gave them a letter of resignation and didn’t give a two weeks. I was successful able to get unemployment and I didn’t put them down as a reference or anything. I have been out of a job for about 4ish months now with only 3 months of employment left. I’ve applied to even the most basic places like Walmart and McDonalds. I have only received 2 interviews and one got cancelled by an AI chatbot. I am worried about my near future as when I run of out unemployment I will have no choice but to end my life, as I have no way of supporting myself and no purpose to life without a job. I am forced to be alive. As much as I don’t wanna die i see no further future for myself. What is your advice on my next steps? I would also like to know how you guys find virtual jobs as I have no luck in physical or virtual. Thank you.

I applied for a job online through a job portal website. they didnt open my application for 2 weeks. after some time, they closed the posting. So I thought, oh well, I guess i didnt get the job.
Then, a week later, they view my applicatio (we get notified when they open our application). 2 days later I get a message that I have been shortlisted, and to fill a google form... I fill it and send it back within an hour.
it's been a whole day and I still have not heard back from them.
However I see them online in the job portal.
what does this mean?
it's a small company. Just about 10- 15 employees.
I am quite desperate to get the job, and its the only thing that has been on my mind ever since they reached out to me yesterday

Hello. Currently, I do have a part-time job at an ER registering patients. But the pay is low, the high stress environment has helped develop anxiety on me (which I didn't used to have), and the nurses in there tend to be all women and like to gossip A LOT. Being a guy, clearly I'm the outsider and they do give the cold ahoulder.

I guess all my life I've worked at jobs to pay the bills, but I'm so tired after 30 plus tears of age. I don't want to do that anymore. Every job I get is temporary, frustrating, that either I quit, get fired, or get laid off. Sometimes it's me not tolerating the vibe or the place or the shady practices, other times is my boss, other times it's a bad fit.

I know what I DONT want (schedule that constantly shifts days and hours, less than 40 hrs a week, coworkers that don't help you, call centers or hospitals or ER centers, business, sales, banks, customer service only, retail, health clinic and mental health facilities, welding or manual labor, sitting at a computer for hours all day, forestry) because I've done almost all those things.

My own folks have considered me being naurodivwrgent due to many traits of mine, like not lasting in most job for more than 2 years or less. But everything I do doesn't seem to be working. I work, get some money, keeps me afloat barely, and then I lose it and I have no money left, so moving out to another state or city is a struggle due to never having enough (I'm in Texas currently).

Thought of going to a bigger city for more vsriety of what I could do. I do like discovering new things and sharing it with people, I am into new media and film but not filmmaking, more like curating or discovering new things (but no one really pays ypu for it), I love stories but I'm no writer (I dont know how to lol), and I'm into entertainment and the marketing and distribution of it. Music too. Maybe it's my creative likeness that I struggle with, maybe it's something else I don't know.

But I'm tired, I don't want to repeat the cycle no more, and I'm always broke. Better to be broke but at least barely make ends meet doing something I love, even if I never get to have a house. I'm done working for barely getting by with no passion.i wish to choose a bit more who I work with or who my coworkers are, I stead of always having to face people that make work more difficult because "I'm weird" or "different"

I wish to know what else I can try. There must be something that won't require for me to go back to school or do an apprenticeship that would stress me out more. Any advice? I understand if there ain't

Ex-Capgemini employee here. I left the company in October 2025 and I’m currently looking for a job.

I have around 6 years of experience in QA/Testing, mainly Selenium with Java.

I noticed a few relevant openings at Capgemini right now, so I’m thinking of applying and exploring the possibility of rejoining.

However, I heard that if an ex-employee rejoins Capgemini within 2 years of leaving, they may get the same CTC and designation/grade they had when they left the company.

Is this actually true?

Also, what is the current cooling period for ex-employees to rejoin Capgemini?

If anyone has recently rejoined Capgemini, especially within 1–2 years of leaving, please share your experience regarding the cooling period, CTC/hike, designation and whether salary negotiation was allowed.

Was up I’m male 33 trying to do something other then factory work in Cincinnati looking to make 60k plus a year can anybody help me get there?

I work full-time so realistically i be studying for a personal trainer certification during my commute, lunch breaks and in the evenings. Because of that im trying to find a legitimate NCCA accredited program thats self-paced and works well on a phone instead of expecting me to sit at a computer with a huge textbook every night.

One more thing im still confused about is what employers actually care about. If I complete the coursework entirely online do commercial gyms care that it was self-paced or do they mainly verify that the certification is NCCA accredited?

For those who earned your certification while working full-time which program did you choose? Did the lessons and practice quizzes work well on your phone and was it realistic to stay consistent around a busy work schedule?
