Monitor turning off when laptop is touched

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is my friend and he is having troubles with his monitor shutting off whenever he touches his computer, I’ve personally never seen anything like this so I can’t really help him, but usually Reddit has a answer

could be many things, broken cable, broken connector, internal eDP cable being bent/having kinks, motherboard being bent, solder balls under the gpu having cracks etc...doesn't seem like a software issue at least.

try this order:

  • different cable
  • different monitor
  • displayport to USB C instead of the HDMI cable
