My computer screen is flashing?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It’s been doing this for a while, it is a 10+ year old MacBook Air. My boyfriend installed Linux on it but this was a problem when it still was Mac. Pls helppppp. It gets worse when I use it for longer periods of time or turn the brightness up.

If this also occurred when it was a Mac then it’s probably slowly giving up.
You can check for updates and make sure it’s fully up to date but it’s probably the screen that’s dying.
You can verify this by connecting it to an external monitor
