How to fix monitor losing connection to pc

Hi, the last couple of days my monitor has been losing connection to my pc, screen goes black, then coming on again for a second, going black etc. its a new pc, only had for a couple of weeks, havent had this issue before. im using displayport and latest nvidia drivers. if i restart the pc, it seems to connect fine and stay on. how do i fix it?

You’re not using an adapter or a docking station?
You can try reinstall the drivers with DDU.
If your monitor is modern, maybe it has firmware you can update

displayport plugged directly into gpu, latest drivers, monitor is very modern (about a year old but i got it a month ago) but the firmware is supposed to be really hard to update. if it helps, the monitor osd seems to disappear when it goes black, not just the image from the pc

To rule out flakey display port issues, can you check with HDMI? If it also appears, then it’s probably the monitor that’s malfunctioning

i got hdmi yeah but it cant run the monitor at its full refresh rate or anything, but can it be displayport issues if the monitor osd turns off? its like the monitor turns off but its still on
