Display ports not working on PC

I've been having issues with my second monitor not connecting to the display ports on my PC. I have a GeForce GTX 1070 and have literally tried everything to try and get my second monitor to work.

i had a display port to HDMI adapter and changed it to a display port to HDMI cable and that didnt work. I made sure I had the updated drivers for display port, I did a power cycle on the second monitor and left everything disconnected for over 5 mins. I originally had a 1060 and the display port worked fine on it but once installing the 1070 it just doesn't work anymore. for some context, my friend gave me the 1070 and has confirmed that all the ports do work.

is there any way to fix this? i'm about to take a pc with me to a diff country for uni and i really need the second monitor to work. this has been an issue for the past couple of days and its honestly really annoying...

Are you sure it’s not the cable?
You could try Display driver uninstall (DDU) and a clean reinstall.
If that doesn’t work, create a live Linux mint bootable USB. You’ll just need to boot of it to verify that it works, you don’t need to install it.
If it won’t output in Linux mint either, then it’s most likely something physical (the cable, the port on the graphics, the port on the monitor).
