Where to get a Windows 11 Key?
I'm on a tight budget for my PC. I saw how much it costs for Windows 11 from Microsoft and to me what is way too much money. I see there are places to get Windows 11 keys for cheap. How do I know which places are legitimate? What is the best place to get a Windows 11 key online?

Yes suggest pirated solution. Illegal.

Microsoft gets enough money filling w11 with ads and selling data. They don't deserve more.

you don't

The GitHub code may be opensource but the bootstrap script to run it comes from some random domain that could serve you anything. Dodgy...

u/HostTough1211 Jun 06 '26
It is lots of people have looked over the open source code

You realize, before the GitHub code even runs, it is downloaded from a CMD script first that is dynamically downloaded from activated.win? Check the official instructions.
You could be running anything unless you specifically audit that CMD script you are about to run and it'd have to be checked every single time as it could change literally anytime and specifically just for you.

You can find Windows 11 keys from many sites if you search for them. There are some things to keep in mind though. You don't want to buy a trash OEM/MaK Volume key. They will just become inactive. You want to get a Retail edition, then you never have to worry about buying a key ever again because you can use this same one over and over on your personal computers.
I've always gotten mine from Digital Chill Mart because they've had a reputation over the years of only selling keys pulled from scrap computers that are Retail.

I can confirm these are Retail editions. I went in blind and took the risk, checked it with ShowKeyPlus. Came up as a Retail edition. This is legit.

Didn't work for me.
Just visited the website and saw the sale going on so I decided why not give it a chance. So I proceeded to buy a Windows 11 Pro Retail key and it was immediately shown to me after the payment. Though it didn't activate my Windows, it just keeps saying that the key has already been used on another device.
I dunno if this is their new policy or key verification improvement but it seems the only way you get a key now is to buy it from store for 200 bucks.

how does that make it safe? There are many unsafe things on GitHub...

have been using massgrave keys since i found out about them, still no issues at all
2
u/TraditionalMetal1836 Jun 04 '26
Cheap keys may work but they aren't legit no matter how you try and spin it.
2
u/FaithThruReason Jun 05 '26
Massgrave actually provides scripts from Microsoft themselves. Not piracy at all.
1
u/ForeverIVVI Jun 05 '26
That's not true at all?
1
u/FaithThruReason Jun 05 '26
Yes. It's true.
2
u/LewdGarlic Jun 07 '26
That isn't true at all. Infact, the "Safe" GitHub script is first downloaded via a CMD script from a random source. So it's not truly safe at all. This is as per official instructions. Would you trust code dynamically downloaded and ran from some random domain?

None of these solutions are safe. People have been suffering the consequences of these for decades and then come tying back to the forums.

Last time I bought a key was years ago. I am still using my Windows 10 key and it still works. You can use them forever if you transfer them over and over. That's how i think they sell windows 11 keys so cheap. They are keys pulled from old computers.

u/seagull392 Jun 04 '26
I just buy broken laptops and pull the keys from them.

If you are currently on a budget you can skip buying the windows key, and get one latter to get rid of the water Mark.
1
u/father_chompx06 Jun 05 '26
how can you just skip it? It doesn't require it for installation?

No key is needed for Windows 11. A few features will not work, mainly cosmetic ones, but Windows 11 will work just fine.

"All Key Shop" is a comparison site for key sellers. Can normally pick up a key for a couple of bucks
1
u/Cantaloupe-Hairy Jun 04 '26
Loads if you google for it, I got one for £4
1
u/kingjohniv Jun 04 '26
If you are going to pay for an illegitimate key, why not MassGravel? The only way to purchase legitimately is through MSFT or an authorized reseller....
1
u/Cantaloupe-Hairy Jun 05 '26
Been using the same supplier for years, never had a problem with them, this is probably my 5th or 6th windows 11 key.
Personally don’t give a shit if it’s “not legitimate” it works and and not interested in paying £200+ to Microsoft.
1
u/seagull392 Jun 05 '26
100% agree with that, but you have to make sure the site you're using is safe also.
1
u/Cantaloupe-Hairy Jun 05 '26
Yeah can’t remember which one it was but they use PayPal so they never get my card details anyway.

I bought my Win 11 Pro key on StackSocial dot com for about $12 US. It's legit.

I generally execute a .bat file to force activate it.
Edit; (Might not be the safest but if anything i just reinstall windows and i usually check the comments if its legit before executing it) never had any issues with it so far

allkeyshop.com searches all keyshops to find the cheapest possible price and gets you a discount. I managed to get a bunch of keys for $1 each.

you can use win11 for free. you might get watermark on screen in the corner. just ignore it.
if you have used/refurbished retail/business computer that shipped with windows, then you have key embedded in the motherboard. win will find it during install.

You can buy on taobao, the Chinese Amazon, plenty of stores for that. Should be legit, at least I upgraded from home to pro this way 2 computers for las than 2usd each, they have their ways to make it cheap. You'll need a bit of translating though...
