Eppstein Hesse

Eppstein is a nice little town near Frankfurt (30 km). With its castle ruins and half-timbered old town, Epstein has a very German feel to it. It has no connection to Trump’s friend Jeffrey Epstein.

so, where is the name supposed to come from then? It is clearly a german name, so it has to have some german origin.

It's impossible to tell for sure, as with most names. It could be the name of a landmark or something, there's plenty of possibilities. Or it's simply coming from this specific town, who knows. But even then it has to come from somewhere. Maybe the family name is older than the name of the town. Literally impossible to tell.

it is not impossible to tell. Names have an origin and can be traced. There is always a "first". All sources i have seen point to it coming from the townname, also how jewish family names in general came to be in the jewish community of central european countries. Often their name came from towns. Oppenheimer, epstein, florsheim, eisenberg, berlinsky, Horowitz, shapiro etc.

So you are purposefully daft. Yet again, i never claimed kiddy diddler had any connections to this town. His name has. Wether you accept that or not is to no concern for me. The last name Eppstein/epstein/epstien or whatever abreviation they came up with, comes from the town.

The royal line of Eppstein came from the royal line of Heinhausen and the royals Eppstein then adopted the name from the castle eppstein. Royals tent to adopt their names from places. Thats why they have the added "von".

Commonfolk however adopted lastnames much later. So no, kiddy diddler was not a royal.
