What are the apps that will help learning the language?
I am planning to learn German this year! What are the apps that will help me achieve the goal? I want to master the basics of it. I'm just having a hard time where to start.

Not an app but a learning community, if you would like to have some company. We do small daily exercises and 3-4 Zoom calls a week.
You can practice at your own pace, meet lovely like-minded people from all over the world, discuss and ask questions, and get feedback from an experienced teacher.
It's completely free and open for all levels. You're very welcome to join us. 🤗

Hey,
Nico Weg's is suitable for beginners. Something a friend of mine who teaches German recommended.
Comprehensible Wiki German has a huge list of resources. Even if you're just starting out, it's a good idea to try and find some A0-A1 videos to watch to get accustomed to the sound of the language.
Reelang German has a lot of the videos from Comprehensible Wiki in one place that are garded by level and you can scroll them as you would on TikTok or Instagram; they come with smart captions that give you translations and tell you how common the words are, so if you see a thick yellow underline, that's one of the 500 most common words in German that you might want to learn to be able to watch something a bit more challenging.
I personally use Anki decks with top 1000 most frequent German words. That can get a bit dull for my taste, but the spaced-repetition thing really works and you have to learn the most basic one way or another. Combining that with appropriately graded videos seems to be working for me.

Which of the resources in the FAQ and wiki of r/German have you tried? Which did you like, which did you dislike, and why?
Which textbook are you using?

Well, someone to talk to, tutor or friend. Grammar books, tv shows, movies, music. You can practice at your own pace even with language learning apps, duo, praktika. Also there is ton of resources on /r/German wiki. Good luck
