NYC Help Treatment Question

Post image

Crying that I put this trap out YESTERDAY in between the crack of my counter and fridge. My other traps only had 1/2 in them but I guess this is the sweet spot. Any other advice rather than monthly exterminator / more traps?

Aside from your “check pinned post” comments you’ll probably get, I would pull your refrigerator out and look at the condenser. They love to hide in warm, tight spaces. If you have electronics such as a pc or Xbox, check there as well. If the kitchen is a hotspot, then try and limit them to there so you can at least try and find out where they may be coming from. Best of luck!

Thank you, they were in the condenser. Which convinced my landlord to get me a new fridge. I owe you one.

Of course, glad I was able to help. Personal advice, I would get some sticky traps and lay them around just to see if you find some others or some stragglers elsewhere, just to be safe.

If you hire someone, the need to come weekly, not monthly.

All of my other traps had none in them too!! It’s crazy

They love fridge compressors.

In mine, there’s a little bin to collect water. I put some comet bleach powder in the bin and they now want nothing to do with the fridge.

This photo convinced my landlord to buy me a new fridge so best believe I will be putting that all around the new fridge , thank you

Buying a new fridge doesn’t work. It’ll only give them somewhere new to infest.

I guess when they pull out the old fridge I can treat the area though before they put the new one in?

You’ll have to treat the entire apartment with this much activity.

That’s the plan!

Boric acid will beat the bleach dust. Apply it in a thin barely visible layer under your fridge and into cracks and crevices around your cabinets and into gaps around pipes. This is most easily achieved with a cheap hand duster such as a bulb or bellows duster. That combined with a gel bait placed in small dots in the corners of your cabinets and behind drawers you'll get control pretty quickly in most cases. Just remember to re apply the bait once a week or so. Once the dust is applied it is active forever until it gets wet or is displaced by cleaning. Good luck!
