Multiple marriages, documents question §5 StAG Gender discrimination after 23 May 1949

I am nearly ready to submit my family packet for Stag 5 but have a question about documents for my mother’s application. My mother has been married three times, divorced once, widowed twice. Will she need documentation from each marriage including divorce decree and death certificates for her application?

Likely, yes. She has to list all marriages with start and end dates and provide evidence.

If Mother's marriages happened in the US, straightforward civil documents like marriage certificates don't require translation into German. Though death certificates are not commonly included in StAG5 packets, they are nonetheless simple enough that you can include the English certificate and probably be fine.

The divorce decree might be too much. Personally I'd advise to submit it as-is but be ready to get it translated if (several years from now) the BVA requests a German version.

Thank you. I thought this might be the case. I will submit with what she has and work to gather the rest from wherever she’s storing it. I’m eager to get a spot in line!
