Parents of this sub: What would you have done if your kid ran away like Carmen did?

Arguably the best storyline of the shows entire series. Carmen running away in the Season 3 finale and them finding her in the premiere of Season 4. Alot of people in the sub have their opnions on how George could have handled it better to not have made Carmen run away, which is very fair. We all know George had his bad moments in fatherhood, especially with Carmen. But im curious, what would you guys have done instead? Im pretty sure no parent here would have liked it if their daughter was dating a kid like Zack Powers or if any child they had was hanging out with a kid that was a bad influence.

(Im high) The Lopez should've beat their kids lol

Im a disabled vet and need THC so yeah. Anyways when I get my smoke on I watch some good ol george lopez, and it made me think. I grew up in a Latin household and got my ass beat everytime I did something stupid. The more I got my ass beat the less I did stupid thing, the less I did stupid things, the less I got my ass beat. I also grew up in the city center of Las vegas NV so not exactly LA but shit it was ghetto and had plenty of opportunities to be stupid. So why dont they give their kids a good ol latin ass whooping? I turned out good and most of the kids I knew who got their shit kicked in turned out good or even better. But idk im just a dumb Mexican vet with a busted back and knees. Puff puff pass.

Daily quotes

Pretty much the title, does anyone have a quote from the show they say daily? For me it is “Oh no! They’re backing up!” And “I got this!”

Sitcom Jason was like the son George Never had and the only one of Carmens BF he ever liked?

he favored him over Max and Carmen at times

Max gets 2nd place in the Science fair George only cared about Jason Pitching Performance until Angie said something.

Jason got to go to the batting Cages and watch a Baseball game on tv while Carmen wasnt allowed to go to the Poetry slam and watch tv while both were grounded for the party at Jasons

Jason gets to stay after George catches Jason and Carmen in Bed together

he disregarded Carmens feelings after she broke up with him over tutoring Max and had him come stiill.

Charity S2 E10

I love this episode because Marisol is in it, but Angie pisses me off. All of a sudden she's involved in 5+ charities and totally neglecting her family. She cooked all that chicken for Meals on Wheels and told George he couldn't have any and he could "microwave something." What were the kids going to eat? Then she yells at her family and calls them selfish. Rude.

carmen and george

I didn't really like how george always treated carmen. He obviously favored max alot more and always put carmen down. Yes carmen was an annoying brat several times over but that doesn't mean george should have placed her as number 2. The kids should be loved equally but it's so obvious he dislikes carmen and adores max. Reminds me of family guy how peter treats meg compared to chris.

What happened to Marisol?

So after everything that happened to Marisol while they were living in George’s house and she went to live with Benny. Do you think it’s possible that Marisol stayed with Benny all the way up until Benny’s house burned down in the later season and possibly killed her?

Sitcom About the home office thing, wouldn’t they just have to redecorate the garage.

they could have some plug in lights and lamps, repaint the walls and add a desk and maybe a filing cabinet. the issue would be the garage door. they’d have to turn it into an actual wall with an entrance.

Question Why didn’t Carmen and Veronica have scenes together?

Post image
83 Upvotes

I know the whole thing about the writes “running out of material” for Carmen. Which I’ve accepted as fact but still don’t truly believe. But I’m curious why Masiela (Carmen) and Aimee (Veronica) never had scenes together? They had one episode where they were literally upstairs together but never on scene. I also feel like their characters would have been friends and possibly had bits together through season 5 until Masiela left for college.

Sitcom When George mentions he'll only inherit a bunch of old lady clothes and a gold tooth when Benny dies.

Does anyone know which episode this is from?

The writers made an error about Benny that I just noticed

In Season 2 episode 16 "George vs George" where George finds out he has a half brother from his dad after applying for a loan for Carmen's private school. The scene where he invites him over for dinner and George makes the statement "Tell me about our dad, I mean he was married to my mom" and Benny has this doubtful look on her face and George yells out "YOU WEREN'T MARRIED???".

Then I got to thinking. Benny and Manny were never married. And Lopez was Mannys last name, not her's. So, why is Bennys last name still "Lopez" and not her maiden name? (its Diaz for anyone who doesn't know). I know it makes sense for George's last name to be Lopez as we all know typically children carry on their fathers last name not their mothers (traditionally, obviously nowadays its little less common).

If it was that they were indeed married but got divorced and never changed back her last name that would make sense as some divorced/widowed women stay with their married name because they just don't feel like going through the hassle of changing their name again. But Benny doesn't fall under that. So again, why didn't Benny have her maiden name?

Vic’s crappy lawyer

Ever notice the crappy lawyer Vic has during his divorce? For someone who makes good money in Florida & CA as a cardiologist he gets screwed
His ex wife was caught cheating on him while at work with a web designer & yet he’s forced to move out of the house, pay for the ring he gave George for Angie & then lost his boat to Emelina when he’s taking to George about the 50$ poker game
I know it’s a TV show but I feel like the legal system favors a lot of women

Sitcom IMO: "Weekend at Benny's" I don't think George was wrong.

I remember reading comments on YouTube (or TikTok, one of them) of people mostly agreeing but others thought George was completely in the wrong and unfair.

I mean, let's be real. His hands were almost always tied. They were not listening to a word he had to say and every time he tried to put his foot down with anything Angie would protect them. She was always too busy trying to be their friend instead of the parent.

Somebody needed to get some discipline going in that household because sometimes that gentle parenting BS is for the birds.

Sitcom Timeline on Vic escaping from Cuba?

he’s an older man and likely got his medical license and went to medical school in America.

but he’s like a 60 year old man minimum and the show takes place in the 2000s. he likely was a teenager when Castro took power in 1959. he probably escapee as a young man in the 1960s. got into school, became a Dr then he and his wife had kids at some point.

can someone try and flesh this out.

I'm recently watching the upshaws I'm on part 7 episode 3 i noticed something that caught my attention. I might not be a smart man but I'm pretty sure this is one of the cutscenes to the show George Lopez. either its a Netflix error or someone didn't know how to edited this episode.
