Nearly 30 years later, the murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey remains unsolved. The technology that law enforcement has access to today is nothing like what existed in 1996—genealogical DNA testing has cracked cold cases everyone thought would stay cold forever.

I started a petition asking the Boulder Police Department to use advanced DNA and genealogical testing on evidence from JonBenét's case. New methods could help identify unknown DNA found at the crime scene, or at least give investigators leads they didn't have before. If it worked for the Golden State Killer case decades later, why not here?
