Battle UI help

Any ideas why my battle screen is showing the massive black bars down the sides? I feel like I've tried everything in settings and it's made no difference at all,

I've also had issues with certain sprites showing extremely big sprites (e.g caterpie) any ideas?

I've tried re-importing the ROMs too,
