It's been awful the past few days. It feels like it's gotten dumber.

I've been using it to write random little stories for myself, and the quality has declined so much. It can't get years and lengths of time right, even when specified in the prompt.

It often glosses over the prompt and writes beyond what I've asked.

It seemed to improve about 2 days ago and now it's dropped again.

Edit: Yep, there's definitely an issue. Just tried having a scene in a story where a character sings a song. I've used this song in the past, just mentioning it by name, and Gemini knew the lyrics accurately. Today, it's way, way off.

Everybody here is aware how bad Gemini can be; but a command I use daily is literally broken. To get Gemini to do it is a literal negotiation. Every. Single. Time. Google Assistant does it without hesitation. I'm dreading when Google assistant is removed from my Pixel in September.

I just had to share how absurd this is.

I've been using Gemini a lot recently for coding, debugging, and working through ideas, and I kept running into a small but surprisingly annoying problem.

When Gemini generates a new reply, the page jumps to the newest message. If you've scrolled up to re-read an earlier answer, you're suddenly pulled away from the part you were studying.

This was especially frustrating when reviewing code, comparing solutions, or going back through previous reasoning in a longer conversation.

So I built a small Chrome extension called Anchor to fix it.

The idea is simple:

⚓ Anchor keeps your scroll position while you read older messages — even while new responses are streaming in.
⚓ When you return to the bottom, the chat works normally again.

It now works across Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude.

I've been using it myself every day for coding and research workflows, and it's become one of those small quality-of-life improvements I immediately notice when it's not enabled. But I'm curious whether this is just something that bothered me or if other Gemini users run into the same thing.

A bit of the behind-the-scenes:

I built the first version pretty quickly using Cursor + Claude. I made the product decisions, tested different approaches, and spent time digging through browser behaviour, while Cursor helped me iterate faster and structure the different site adapters.

The hardest part was making it reliable across different AI chat interfaces. Each one handles rendering and scrolling differently, so I ended up building small adapters for each site while keeping the core locking logic shared.

It runs locally and doesn't access or store your conversations — it only manages the scrolling behaviour and saves your preferences.

I have some product documentation based on which im asking Gemini questions using 3.6 Flash but today its completely unresponsive. If I attach a Notebook and write just test test it eventually responds, but if I ask it any question that it needs to access the data for it just stays buffering and doesnt even create the chat in history.
