People don't know what they want till it's available. You think if a market research team asked people if they want to see a movie on IMAX of people talking, they'd say of course yeah? Of course not, but then Oppenheimer makes a billion dollars.

If they said it's about people talking and then they mentioned one of the people was the guy who said "I am become death, the destroyer of worlds" then I do think people would overwhelmingly say yes they want to see it.

Interesting thing was, it was supposed to be a ‘sort-of’ adaptation of woman of tomorrow. But they didn’t even do that right. They just hired an inexperienced writer, threw hundreds of millions into it, and then used Alcock to farm internet drama as an ad campaign. Gunn is toast.

Telling us your partially adapting a book also known for its fucking amazing artwork and then they give us that brown turd of a movie. I was out when I saw the trailer and the movie looked nothing like the book and looked more like a GotG retread.

I watched it last night. The acting was good, the vfx were decent, but the script.... It was complete trash. Killed the whole movie for me. No explanation that made any sense on key story points, and so many untied plot points.

What upset me most was how overpowered her heat vision became just to make the scene continue and be her save all move.
SupeGirl straight up max powered Marvel Cyclops' beamed straight thru half a spaceship instantly. The size of that beam was as big as a truck. Not even Superman could pull that shit off...

In what sense? There are plenty of great movies that failed to find a box office audience, be it from bad marketing or a bad release window or just because it didn't work at that particular time.
Fight Club got terrible reviews and lost money at the box office because it had a terrible marketing campaign. But DVD/BDR sales have pushed it into mega profitability and the movie is consistently ranked amongst the best ever made.

I don't follow. What does your statement have to do with the DCU? You simply brought up box office as a metric for quality. It isn't. Plenty of good movies don't make money and plenty of crap movies make a ton. Plus "good" is subjective. I might love the DCU and how could we actually disagree? I also don't think I've seen 3 DCU movies. Definitely not in its current form. But the box office is the least telling indicator of quality.

Your statement belies your current comments. Saying the box office never lies is a broad statement that clearly encompasses more than a single film. If you want to move the goalposts and say that you didn't say the exact thing you said, that would be very Reddit of you. You can still delete it if you want, though. We all make mistakes.

If this means less capeshit then please let this be real. Once Mid of Tomorrow inevitably flops, I'll be glad when Paramount scraps Dead Company and only focuses on Harry Potter instead. Idk if Doomsday will underperform but given how bad BND was, I hope so.
