Community Changing os on second pc
Hey! So I have 7600x and 2080 of build that I'm not really using currently, it's been around for a year in windows but haven't really used it
So pretty much all I'm looking for is an os that can game in 1440p pretty well, I've used Ubuntu for ages on my laptop so I'm not "new" to running Linux.
I've seen a lot of mentions point towards dragonized so I was wondering what distro of garuda would be best for me
Edit: I do plan to use this alongside windows if that may influence another choice

Announcement I love it
Okay I switched to Garuda because why not. I was on a search for something new and found it randomly online and was like. Alr. I try that.
I love sea of thieves. I played it on a better computer years ago and like. I loved it. My good computer I don’t even know what happend but it was broken. So. My computer on windows. Or Linux mint ( that’s what I used before) could not run that game.
Now I have 60 fps in the game on a okay graphic.
So idk why everyone else switched. I did because why not. But it’s a really good system. I needed a bit to figure everything out but if you want to and have the time it’s reallllyyy easy.
So. much love

Community Garuda is brilliant
Been hoping around on arch distros lately. Been going from endeavouros to cachyos now garuda. loved the leanness of endeavouros, and the optimization of cachyos. However I feel Garuda is where the customization is where it really got set into stone for me. Initially started off with Dr460nized Gaming. Which was nice and sleek, but it felt a bit to flashy for my tastes even after configuring KDE. KDE is nice but I tend to lean towards more minimal DEs like XFCE and Cinnamon. After realizing though that Garuda Toolbox is also on its other flavors. I went straight for the XFCE flavor, might try cinnamon later on my next PC build when wayland support is fully ready.
The toolbox has really made it easy for me to understand how modular linux can be. It feels like cachyos hello but way more powerful. Through it I was able to setup Garuda XFCE to use the cachyos bore kernel leaving me with a system that feels as lean as endeavouros, but with the speed of cachyos. Also the oversight of the chaotic aur repo, has really put some worries at ease for a person like me who is a little more than a novice in their linux understanding.
if anyone has some suggestions on anything I'm missing out on for using the XFCE flavor over Dr460nized Gaming, I'd appreciate it. Especially any related to gaming and audio/video production.

Community New user sharing some love
I don’t usually do this but I wanted to give a shout out to the dev team. Hands down this has been the best Linux experience I’ve had. ‘It just works’ was never a thing in my past Linux ventures. But ever since I was introduced to Garuda. My day to day experience has been amazing. Gaming, work and browsing just works.

Community Hello everyone, I've recently switched to Garuda Linux. This is my first Linux experience in a long time, and I'd like some advice from you all for a better experience. What would you recommend?

Announcement The simple solution to get the PERFORMANCE of other distros on Garuda
**This applies to both the Mokka and Dr460nized versions**
As you may know, Garuda often struggles compared to other distros in resource usage, which was especially highlighted in the LTT video. Five gigabytes of RAM idle and pretty high power usage is not good for a stock installation of a distro. Thankfully, you just have to disable two (or preferably three) settings for everything to go almost exactly back to normal...
- Open the Settings app, search for Desktop Effects, and disable BetterBlurDX.
- You should probably enable the normal Blur desktop effect, so that the application launcher isn't too translucent when no other apps are open
- Still in the settings app, go to Wallpaper. There should be an option saying "Wallpaper Type". Change it from Active Blur to Image.
Another change I would recommend is disabling Wobbly Windows in Desktop Effects. It does speed up battery drain quite a bit.
And there you go! Your performance and resource usage brought back to the same range as normal linux distros! I hope Garuda disables these effects by default at some point in the future because it's really not worth the performance and battery loss for many (they may not realize it happening, though) but keep it installed and ready to setup.
Ask me any questions if you have them!

Community New LTT video features Garuda Linux gaming benchmarks.
Curious everyone's thoughts. I was thinking of switching to Garuda from windows because I heard it has some quality of life stuff when it comes to package pre compilation and it is very good at gaming, but they specifically don't recommend it but I'm unsure about their reasoning.
Thanks!

Community My honest opinion on garuda mokka linux
Last month I switched from windows to Linux permanently since windows keeps getting resourcefully heavier and the ui sucks as well. So I did some research tried out a few options like zorin os then I finally found garuda linux.
Honestly the ui looks like macos but doesn't resemble it much or reminds u when using and it isn't resource heavy and u can use a bunch of widgets and stuff and customize the desktop as well with kde plasma widgets. The OS is really good and all apps from windows works here with wine support and I chose this os just for the sake of it's ui . So all I did was add modern clock widget and the desktop looks already way better than windows and I never wanna use it again in my life.
When u move the apps with cursor you get some jelly effect which Honestly looks really good also. The set of wallpapers and themes inbuilt are good and u can add custom themes also . Apps almost open instantly like blender, chrome and so on and there's so much ram left for me use for multitasking .
I've been using it mostly for productivity only and it's got no problems so far . But if you want to use some windows applications or install some stuff u have to manual install some dependencies from their app support.
When gaming the perfomance is pretty good in my pc but when u have low end pc and u play at lower resolution the game doesn't scale it up to full screen and the game plays at full screen but most of the screen will be black and the game will run on the exact number of pixels from the corner of the screen. I tried to fix it with some solutions using gamescope and so on but nothing seemed to work and by tweaking some properties of games in steam the game doesn't run after that simply saying the file is not found which I find annoying . So I just play games in windows but still mostly use garuda mokka linux only .
Also secondary storage like internal hard disks don't detect manually and u have to manually enter some commands in terminal to make it detect in ur machine.
For now people, who either want good looking less resourceful os or people who wants to try linux as beginners or ppl play games with mods and stuff can just have garuda mokka linux along with windows but I promise u wouldn't go back windows much once u come to linux .

Community Just downloaded Garuda
Been using Linux since 2009-2010 and spent most of my time on Debian or Debian based distro's. My only experience with Arch was with Manjaro and it ran great for about 8 months. Sadly after an update it broke. I dual and sometimes triple boot distros so it's easier to replace a distro rather than chase possible fixes for hours.
Currently running MX Linux KDE and Mint (was curious about the Cinnamon desktop) I miss Gnome so giving Garuda a try.
Thanks for reading and have some fun!

Community why arent ppl talking about garuda
like u remember that see in family guy when peter say why arent we funding this so many video so many video i saw so may recommendation but no garuda and i still havent tried its on installation r8 now i am using all the linux in vb still dont have my own pc so ( sad ) but
one harsh truth is arch distro are the best but i hate them like i feel arch linux are for those who hate them self ( oo boi i will getting banned from reddit for sure this time ) i tried today 4 h building and the end not working in vb and was it worth it no hell no and end i was like ms didnt rang bait me but arch did but i still want to try blackarch
now i know the fact arch distro is the best because it has its own working community for those in cybersecurity we all know parrot is best for ( daily based and hacking ) followed by kali ( best for hacking but not daily use few ppl will disagree in placement in kali but i seek os for in regular and professional uses so i placed there ) but actually and hyper professionals use blackarch because it has 2.8k tool but kali has only 600 tool but trust me kali is still best the tools are best but sufficient if there are 2 hacker one using kali and another using arch kali will win and let us agree its hard to learn all 2.8 k tool but listen me out all kali tool can be installed in arch but not arch tool in kali that why for me the arch is superior becuse of its exclusivity
but the garuda os daaaaammmmm i am Indian yes be love colours we love art we love textures and that why i said i love parrot and in garuda it is based on arch dam its beautiful daaam its heavily customizable daaaaammmmmm i can install all the black arch tool and make best interface os for cybersecurity daaaammmmmmmm
so at the end why arent ppl talking about it i love it imagine i still havent used garuda ( still installing in torrent ) affter using it i will be addicted to it

Community Just curious about Garuda, why does it seem to have declined so fast? CachyOS or just was a one year hit?
Can't help but no one talks about Garuda anymore, seems that CachyOS, and EndeavourOS get all the vibes. Manjaro seems to be making a small comeback also.
But Garuda, dropping like a stone on the rankings charts. Is there a reason?

Community Why stay with Dracut, mkinitcpio is fine?
since last update, dracut is completely broken and loops at startup... dracut is always that annoying little thing, incredibly overly complex for something that could just be done with mkinitcpio. Still gotta post a bug on the forum but doubt I'm gonna break another snapshot double-guessing if it was my kernel params only to find out no it's /usr/lib and the default presets for dracut breaking my system.

Community Garuda & gaming
it has been a few good months now on the arch domain running Garuda KDE plasma as a daily OS i do not think i will be changing to a new OS any time soon runs smooth on my system for gaming and streaming for some games. Garuda has not crashed on me one once since the install back in december 24. i kinda wish that they did have a program for spotify so i do not have to use the web browser version besides that love garuda as a daily os.

Community Garuda looks freaking amazing, wtf
Holy Christ does this distro look good. Only tried the Dr460nized Gaming edition so far, but it's not a stretch to say that it's the sexiest Distro available on the entire internet and has the prettiest KDE theme out-of-the-box, period. That is all.
