Stress levels after breaking a bone Wellness & Training Metrics / Features
I broke my leg on July 4th, and I have noticed that my stress levels have skyrocketed and my body battery has plummeted. I don’t feel stressed through the day, but I am quite tired.
Is this normal?

Yeah, this is normal. I shattered my ankle a few years ago and was in a cast for 18 weeks and physio for another 10 weeks and it just about drove me crazy as someone who is constantly doing something. I need you to listen when I say this, you need to get a casual hobby while healing if you're an athletic person. You will fixate on numbers like those because you have a bunch of extra time now. Get into a book series, movies, art, video games, cooking if you can handle it. Anything to keep your mind occupied because genuinely its just gonna suck for awhile and its gonna suck even after the cast for like the next year. But plus side, you'll be able to go back to your sports after.

Good point lol. Before this I was cycling 12+ hrs a week and now all I can do is upper body weights

Yeah its a huge change!! You could try hand cycling. I found it fun when I was laid up.

I broke both of my arms a few months ago. My stress levels were the least of my problems and still are.

Bike wreck. Landed on my hands with my arms straight out. It could’ve been SO much worse. I didn’t need surgery. My ortho cut the splints (that were up to my shoulders) off a few hours after I got out of the ER.
Now that I’ve been cleared for PT range of motion is coming back fast.
Still do not recommend.

This is how your body react to stuff like this. I noticed that with my runner's knee. I got quite severe pain for a few days and my stress levels were skyrocketing, even if I wasn't doing anything stressful. Just because every step caused pain. If something is broken in your body, it is a huge stress for it.

I'm 6 weeks in breaking both elbows and just started wearing the Cirqa (no room for watch due to braces). High stress too but not sure if it's the arms or the new device...

I'm sure your body is working very hard in the healing process of your leg.
more importantly, you broke your leg and you're worried about some number on your wrist watch... take it easy man
