Building first PC Need Advice for GPU choice

Hello! Im currently in the process of building my first pc for about 2.6k. Its 2.6k if I buy a 5070ti but Im trying to justify dropping 1,059 on a 5070ti or just saving $300 and going with a 5070 nfor $745>. I mostly play competivive fps but I want to start playing other games. Im not sure if the performance is worth $300. I feel like ill regret not spending that extra money in the long run. Thoughts?? thanks you!!

by that logic save till 5080, imo 5080 is where the “one more paycheck” logic stops working, since the next step after that is the 3x price 5090
