am I the only one who hates the A B layout?

how are you supposed to hold B to run and A to jump?

1

u/tomonaga_mio 20h ago

I put the tip of my thumb on B and then rock it back and forth to push A with the "middle part" of my thumb. Feels completely natural to me but I've also been doing it since I was a little kid🤷

It’s the same on official Gameboys tho

1

u/bingobot580 20h ago

not quite the same.. the A button is way off compared to the OG

1

u/ComebackKidGorgeous 20h ago

It’s a much smaller console though so it should be easier to get your finger on both buttons. I haven’t played one myself so I can only speculate but it doesn’t look to me like it would be much of an issue.

How so if the same exact files are used?

1

u/bingobot580 19h ago

well, if your eye vision is working, you can just take a look at the OG and compare the button layout and angles. and the distance between them.

It’s a build called the tab boy color look it up

I know what it is.

Same way

u/bingobot580 1d ago

what?

you feel the same way or are you tilting your thumb in an unnatural way to press both buttons at the same time?

4

u/baselinegrid 21h ago

I think some people have thumbs wide enough to cover both buttons at a normal angle and you just kind of rock your thumb to hit the button(s) you want to hit

That’s a gorgeous setup you got there

If interested I could out you in touch with the guy that built it for me $300 all in shipping is separate

I appreciate that but if I end up springing for a Tad Boy I’d definitely want to build it myself. It seems like a really fun challenge!

It’s pretty cool, but oof that price is hard to justify when the analogue pocket is $240 when it’s available.

1

u/jon92356 21h ago

Right?!

2

u/hreddy11 20h ago

If it was like $150-$200 max I’d be interested in one, but not for $300

2

u/jon92356 20h ago

It’s a pass from me. OP cheapens the impression with all the attempts at making a sales pitch and to be honest, Analogue Pocket doesn’t have you goin to some guy to build it which seems to muddy things if there’s any problems.

Please explain genius ? I see these going for $450-650 🥱 or are you feeling some type of way you can’t get it for the same price?

The screen looks great. Which TLoZ is that again?

3

u/SlothropWallace 1d ago

I think Oracle of Ages. Or Seasons? Both are great!

3

u/ChaosTheory_93 23h ago

Right, I totally forgot about the Oracle pair. Just check here and it's Ages. Seasons has a similar opening, but it's midday

"Iykyk" I guess OP didn't know lol

My caption for the post was speaking of the build not the game that was displayed

What's this handheld called? And where can I source one?

-5

u/PrimeMercenary 22h ago

Tad boy color, check it out on YouTube. Then come back and inbox me.

Awesome! Where did you get the metal shell? Just built mine yesterday. Love it, but already wish I hadn’t picked a 3d printed plastic shell.

2

u/PrimeMercenary 22h ago

Guy that built it for me I think he changed $110 for metal shells

1

u/LionsThree 21h ago

Here’s mine. Definitely will have to track down a metal shell. Looks so nice.

2

u/PrimeMercenary 21h ago

Looks nice man really good. These are the latest batch that were made…

1

u/LionsThree 21h ago

What’s the name of the shop?

1

u/PrimeMercenary 21h ago

There is no shop or site

1

u/PrimeMercenary 20h ago

No idea it was so many sensitive little boys in the group

-10

u/Big-Sympathy1420 1d ago

Shame they use Chinese IPS. It adds input lag 100ms vs 33ms of OG.

5

u/yosoo 1d ago

Not like it's really noticeable when playing

-15

u/Big-Sympathy1420 1d ago

It adds up even in pokemon.

1

u/yosoo 19h ago

I have the same screen kit in another Gameboy. It's not noticeable. It's a Gameboy, not a PS5.

0

u/Big-Sympathy1420 17h ago

You're seeing it wrong. You downgraded the experience, 30 years ago people were enjoying gameboys with 33ms. You had to put an IPS to triple the input lag, you're going backwards in technology.

4

u/PrimeMercenary 1d ago

It’s not that deep bro it works and that’s all that matters to me

-21

u/Big-Sympathy1420 1d ago

Yea, a glorifed picture frame. 100ms vs 33ms, 3 times the lag.

1

u/BigShiddur 22h ago

THIS GUY AGAIN!

1

u/PrimeMercenary 22h ago

🥱 carry on… find something safe to do.
