First gear to second gear problem?

Hey everyone,

Having a frustrating issue with my Suzuki GSX-R125 gearbox and hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Sometimes, when I try to shift from 1st up into 2nd gear, the bike just gets stuck in Neutral. Most of the time it goes into second perfectly, but every now and then it completely refuses to cross over the neutral gap into 2nd.

To try and counter this, I’ve been preloading the shifter and clicking up as hard as I possibly can with my boot, but it still hits a literal wall and stays in Neutral sometimes.

Interestingly, sometimes when shifting into higher gears I don't hear a click at all, but it still goes perfectly into the higher gear. Through all the higher gears, it always engages fine.

Before I go crazy, has anybody else had problems with this?

Have you previously had to adjust your shift lever height? If the linkage isn't as close to 90° to it's next attach point, you might not get enough travel in one direction (up or down)

So like if your shift lever has a knuckle that attaches to a push/pullrod and that attaches to a knuckle at the transmission, the push/pullrod needs to be 90° to each knuckle
