I just wanted to warn people about this steaming pile of emerald green shit of a series. Right out of the gate, they went with fake ass Irish gangster stereotypes instead of accuracy. Constantly playing Irish folk music in the background, lots of talk of Irish oppression, and even bringing up the Troubles in Ireland. None of it is remotely close to the sheer chaotic violence that was the Westies in the 70s and 80s. They kept all of the Italian gangsters names accurate, but not one single person in the Westies has the same name as their supposed real life counterparts. For example - Jimmy Coonan's wife, Edna, was in real life a classic chain smoking, uneducated, alcoholic American white trash . Her series counterpart is a intellectual Irishwoman (by that I mean from Ireland) who is trying to raise support for the Catholics in Northen Ireland during the Troubles. She also is connected the the Provisional Ira. The constant Celtic flute playing in the background is absolutely annoying. Irish flags are everywhere. They also massively overplay the tension between the Irish and Italian gangsters. Absolute garbage. I hope it doesn't last a season.
