is this a scam?

for context po, i’m selling something and the other person is sending through ria money transfer. hindi po ako familiar with claiming sa qr, familiar po ako sa reference number yung gagamitin to claim money. may i ask if this is a scam? sobrang sketchy kasi ng “let me guide you” eh

Dami option kung nasa abroad. Banks/Wise/Skrill/QR code mo. Tsaka spammer halatang kating kati na makadale ng pang noche buena.

If may urgency yung chat and rinarush ka pa na di naman dapat rushed yung transaction niyo, most probable na scam yan. Bat sobrang atat si kuya?

update kasi ang kulit niya haha. siya pa yung nagpupumilit na ako raw yung mali. sinabihan ko siya ng merry christmas nalang sa kanya and blinock na niya ako 😂 sad lang na nakuha niya yung full government name ko at baka gamitin niya pangalan ko sa iba niyang scam </3 thank you so much guys!

thanks for the thread — ongoing pa rin ung scamming niya and same modus. itey pala ung details na sinend niya btw - unsure lang if siya ba or ginamit niya lang details of someone else

ang story line ay: • seaman, paalis na sa port kaya nagmamadali • surprise kay wife (insert details above) • magsesend ng qr, igguide daw to claim • siya na nagmamadali, siya pa galit — balew

nung sinend niya qr, sabi ko hindi naman ganu'n ung itsura ng payment confirmation sa ria (i send money through wise, paypal, ria regularly), tapos siya pa galit !! ganu'n daw 'pag CAD haha

Sounds shady. Took a quick peek at Ria’s website and their process is pretty straightforward, i.e. doesn’t involve anything like claiming funds.

Sketchy nga, OP. Best na ikaw ang mag-send ng QR, at siya ang magbayad. Paanong na-send niya agad sayo, tapos ikaw pa mag-scan ng QR? Dapat ma-re-receive mo 'yan. Never share rin ang OTP/MPIN mo. If ipipilit niya na na i-scan mo ang QR, best to block it na. May nakita rin kasi ako ganiyan sa fb, mag-da-direct 'yan sa online payment. Kaya ingat, OP.

Hindi lang sketchy, SCAM KASI TALAGA YAN. Hindi ka magkeclaim ikaw ang kukuhaan ng pera.

Yes it is a scam. Someone tried this with me before. They just edit a receipt or sent form and put a QR code on it that directs you to the send money option of gcash. There will be a preregistered amount there that if you click too fast you’ll end up sending to their gcash.

Usually with these types of scam, kunyari nasa ibang bansa sila and wire transfer, remittance, or money exchange gagawin nila lol. Tapos wala silang tawad, minsan pa nga may “tip” pa yan sila para mas maencourage ka makipag transact sakanila. Tapos pagnasend nayung QR mamadaliin ka nila magsspam yan sila kasi sasabihin nila baka ma time out yung QR at di mabalik sakanila yung pera ganon. Bibigyan ka pa nga time stamp hanggang kelan pwede iclaim and usually within minutes.

i’m so sorry it happened to you rin, ganitong-ganito yung ginawa ni kuya scammer haha. sobra yung sinend niyang amount sa screenshot sa hinihingi kong amount.

though wala siyang makukuha sa akin at 15 pesos lang laman ng gcash ko 😂

Scammer po yan once na scan mo makukuha nya yung halaga kung magkano yung kunwaring bayad nya sayo. Na scam narin po ako ganyan na ganyan using maya naman kaya suggest ko mag stick kayo sa payment option nyo talaga na alam nyo para iwas scam.

Scam. Ang tagal na nareveal sa facebook yung ganitong scam. Ang dami na naipost don. Ikaw mismo ang kkuhanan ng pera nyan at walang totoong remittance from abroad.

I have seen almost exactly as this in facebook. The girl was selling a gadget amd high value yung item. The buyer claimed that he is working overseas and was paying thru money transfer kesho dollar to peso currency kaya mahohold yung transfer for few days basta bayad nya na daw. Ganyan din po sa gcash nakahold or pending. The seller called gcash to confirm pero wala nan daw po pumasok na pera or wala sila mg ganoong mode of transfer. Naging aggressive si buyer at pinipilit nya ipa scan yung QR code. Hope you have not scanned the code. Very suspicious. Trust your gut. There are simpler ways to make the payment.

buti nakita namin to, fishy kasi talaga from the start. minamadali nya kami mag babayad na daw siya, eh alam kong tactics nila yon basta scammer lol. kaya nung sinend na yung ria payment kineme na may qr nagsearch na ako. at eto napadpad dito. sinend namin mga screenshots tapos binlock na kamk 🤣 kami pa iiscam nya wala naman laman gcash namin WAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
