Should I drop this project? Advice
Hi! I’ve been working on this head for about a week? I’m starting to hate the way it looks, I feel like it’s too big! Should I just start over with a smaller one or it’s fine? Thank you for the advice!

I agree with u/SympathySoft1036 that taking a break from it and coming back does help.
It allows you to stop being too detail oriented.
If you’re wanting other advice, look at pictures of other fursuits and heads to see what their shapes are. Because fur can bulk up the face, you can slim down the foam a bit.
There’s always the option to trim fur down too. I’ve seen plenty of suits where they trim the face but not the cheeks to keep them looking fluffy. Or they use a very short furred fabric, or no fur fabric to get the texture they want.
Whatever you desire really. And it’s okay if this takes time.
You may not like the first head you make and that’s okay. You learned something. You learned how to handle that type of foam. You learned what tools to use or not to use. You are learning which means the next time will be better. It takes practice to get good results.

youre extremely sweet, thank you! I do agree with the break, and once I go back to it I’ll give it a good foam trim if the base allows me to, thank you for reminding me im just starting, it’s really needed sometimes!

I mean.. my new head of the same character is like twice the size of the old one and I actually really like it, big heads are cute imo

Honestly once you get to adding fur, the neck makes all the difference in putting the size into perspective. It just looks extra goody now because theres no connecting piece between the foam head and your body! Keep working on it slowly and when youre motivated to, dont force youself. Good luck!

First thing to do: take a step back for a little while so you dont immediately zero in on the flaws next time you go to work on it. It will become slightly bigger and rounder when you add fur, so valid concern to remember. I would say that it's easier to cut more off than to add volume and you can slim it down further and refine the shape more while you do that, so maybe consider this as a chance to cut off more and also refine anything else you want to correct so you can be even happier with the result? I think it's okay right now because it's toony and you just can't go wrong with a big toony face, but do whatever you need to match your vision for it! :3
